GTX 970 vs GTX 1050ti

Go to solution Solved by Megah3rtz,

1050 TI is about as good as a 960, if the prices are the same get the 970.

(970 = 1060 3gb roughly)

Power is not not issue, and I understand the 1050ti has a higher base clock, but when looking at gaming performance the 970 might have an edge? Any ideas?

As @Megah3rtz mentioned, the GTX 1060 3GB is closer to the 970 than the GTX 1050Ti.

the GTX 1050Ti performs similarly to a GTX 960, GTX 770 and GTX 680,

Depends the price difference between the two, if you can afford a 1050ti you can just save a bit more for a rx480 and be well served and have the option to get a FreeSync

Here in Spain the 970 is 100€ more expensive than the 1050ti and it only gives you 15% ~ more performance or so, I dont think It worth the money to buy a 970, indeed, they dont produce It anymore (or they dont replace their stock, which is pretty much the same thing for us) so if you want to save some money, but the 1050ti (it runs games 1080 perfectly) but if you are looking for something else, but the 470x, 1060 or 480x but dont buy old generations high-end GPUs if you have medium ones of a newer generation, they will always have a better price-perfomance rate.

P.D: sorry for my english :/

There is always going to be bigger and better. GTX 1050 is decent for most games at 1080p. Others will say for a little more get the GTX 1050 ti. Then a little more gets you the RX480. You just went from $150 for the GTX 1050 to $250+ for the RX480. Only you can decide if it's worth it. For me, I say save your money and get the GTX 1050. The ti version gives you slightly better texture, check Youtube comparisons.

I absolutely understand, however purchasing online on certain retailers drops down the price significantly making this not necessarily a price issue, but me comparing my options because they both fit in my budget.

Then youve got your answer! If the price gap isnt that big and you are willing to spend it, go for the 970! And if you want to save some bucks, go for the 1050ti.

Knowing that, as I said before, you wikk be loosing a 10-15% performance by buying the 1050ti BUT you also have to know both runs games at 1050@60 :)
