My 1070 is not performing as good with 378.66

Hi guys, so I've been noticing lower results the usual in Heaven with the new driver and don't understand why.

 

Basic Specs:

 

Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4.6GHz

MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Gaming X 8G

16GB of DDR3

Windows 10 Home X64

 

GPU Overclock Settings:

 

Core Voltage: 50% 

Power Limit: 126% (maximum)

Temp.Limit: 92c 

Core Clock: +165 (= 2088MHz stable) 

Memory Clock: +520 ( = 4520MHz/ 9040MHz effective) 

Fan Speed: Custom Fan Curve 

 

Heaven Settings: 

 

Language: English 

Preset: Custom 

API: DX11

Quality: Ultra

Tessellation: Extreme 

Stereo 3D: Disabled

Multi-Monitor: Disabled

Anti-Aliasing: X8

Full Screen: On

Resolution: System (1920x1080) 

 

Results from 11/02/17 (378.49):

 

FPS: 105.8

Score: 2666

Min FPS: 32.1

Max FPS: 222.3

 

Results from 16/02/17 (378.66)

 

FPS: 105.6

Score: 2659

Min FPS: 18.3

Max FPS: 221.1

 

Now I know this isn't like the end of the world or anything but after the update I've never got close to what I got on 11/02/17.

I mean did you run the benchmark 2-3 times with the newer drivers? (To make sure that this wasn't a bug or something)

I can live with it, it's just strange that a graphics driver can have such an effect on performance.

Whut, and there I was saying to myself I don't need the new driver because it really doesn't offer anything but some support for games I don't play.. But then I did it anyway just to be "up to date".. I'm kinda.. almost dissapointed. But as always, a new driver will come and fix these issues.

Bro, that's fine. Benchmark scores fluctuate for a number of confounding variables.

that's margin of error stuff man come on your result is 0.002632568634825% lower...

that's normal...just run it again and you might get a result 0.002% higher than your old result.

 

Drivers does not even affect benchmarks performance...where you'll potentially see a difference is in games...for those old ass benchmarks, nvidia has nailed them in drivers 270 or something those have been out for ages...nvidia ain't working on that don't worry.

 

**HINT: run it twice in a row without closing the rendering window...you'll get a few bonus points for doint that

 

**HINT 2: stop worying so much about stupid benchmarks and enjoy your favorite games instead
