How do I fix youtube degrading quality

Hey guys, recently I have been uploading my video and for some reason I see that when uploaded to youtube (1080p 60fps) the quality turns to shit like its 480 or something. It looks super clear on my computer when playing it, but when uploaded to youtube it blows. I have no idea what is going on. I use Sony Vegas and I have put my render settings on the best possible.

Try experimenting with different output formats from Vegas.

I don't know, try different codecs, formats etc. In the past, YouTube has been known to process video with varying levels of quality because of the format it's uploaded in.

keep in mind youtube compresses videos to a stupidly low bitrate.

 

those folks that say youtube 4K is *so much better*, that's all bitrate, not pixels. i'm guessing the floatplane folks have experience with the benefits of higher bitrate :P

It takes time to process. Also youtube uses aids bitrates

Linus said in a video that they upscale their video to 4k from 1080p, because then youtube will compress it to higher bitrate then if they had uploaded the same thing in 1080p.

Upscale to 4k helps a lot (IIRC, YT uses like 5Mbps for 1080 but ups it to 15 for 4k). Also, it can take many hours for a better quality compression to appear on a video. Finally, make sure you're exporting the right settings (there's no such thing as "best" render settings, just "best for the job").

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.

what is this upsclae to 4k? Not sure where to go for that or what settings to use. Also, I've been experimenting with all the render settings

It just means render it in 4K instead of 1080p. I don't use FCP just Premiere so I don't know where the settings are but they should be in the export screen.
