BSOD issue

Recently I have been getting BSODS due to the Clock_Watchdog_Timeout error. It only happens in Bf1 and Overwatch. It happens maybe one a week and it has happened in BF1 twice in the past 2 days with some other crashing in that game. With a quick lookup of this error it seems like it could be a faulty core in my CPU but I dont know how true that may be. Really need to find out a way to fix this as I dont feel like dishing out for another processor. 

 

Note: the CPU is overclocked to 4.5ghz @1.325v

That error typically means your CPU is deadlocked and nonresponsive. Try downgrading your overclock/disabling it. If that still doesn't work, some further diagnostics will need to be done.

havent tried removing the oc but i will soon

that'd be the first step. if you have to RMA the CPU and it does not act up at stock, the RMA will be denied as they will not overclock the CPU to find the BSOD.

Your OC isn't very stable at those games. Sometimes a seemingly stable OC will stubbornly fail at specific software... Try upping the voltage / lowering the clock

Running an OCCT stress test on the CPU resulted in another BSOD after about a minute, dropping the OC down to 4.3 let the stress test go on for 15+ minutes with no crashes and max temp being around 57c. Now to try BF1 I guess. Just hoping it wont tank my CSGO framerate but I dont think it would since my system is more than capable of running CSGO.

Don't worry about CSGO hehe, your CPU can run it at the high 200s without even overclocking the thing
