noctua nh-d14 fan not recognized in bios?

msammy93

My noctua nh-d14 fan is spinning and works great but its not recognized in the bios. Says cpu opt 0 rpm. I have had to disable the warning for the cpu fan because of the annoying noise the gigabyte x99 gaming 5p mobo makes and I just wanted to know if there is a fix for this. thanks

Well is there anything in the CPU fan header? Most boards have the OPT header set up so it just does the exact same thing as the main CPU header.

Main Rig: R9 5950X @ PBO, RTX 3090, 64 GB DDR4 3666, InWin 101, Full Hardline Watercooling

Server: R7 1700X @ 4.0 GHz, GTX 1080 Ti, 32GB DDR4 3000, Cooler Master NR200P, Full Soft Watercooling

LAN Rig: R5 3600X @ PBO, RTX 2070, 32 GB DDR4 3200, Dan Case A4-SFV V4, 120mm AIO for the CPU

HTPC: i7-7700K @ 4.6 GHz, GTX 1050 Ti, 16 GB DDR4 3200, AliExpress K39, IS-47K Cooler

Router: R3 2200G @ stock, 4GB DDR4 2400, what are cases, stock cooler

I don't have a problem...

IIRC the NH-D14 fan isn't PWM but that really shouldn't make a difference. Perhaps the board expects a 4-pin PWM fan and that's why it doesn't read the RPMs correctly.

I don't really mind it not being able to the fan once the rans run at full speed, which I have no idea if they are (-_-!)

oh, the main cpu fan and cpu opt are 2 different sockets then?

Well, yes and no. Main CPU fan should be connected to CPU_FAN. CPU_OPT is usually controlled by same chip with CPU_FAN. Sometimes on some boards they are controlled individually. Others have CPU_FAN do main cooling and keep CPU_OPT off when CPU is at low temps.

The NH-D14 SE2011 uses pwm fans.
