4k GTX 1070 in-game

So this isn't really a problem as it is a odd occurrence, but for some reason whenever I install a new game (or reinstall an old one) it automatically sets the resolution to 3840 x 2160.  I'm honestly flattered that the game has such confidence in my GTX 1070 and 1080p screen but it's weird to me that it would do this.  Any ideas on why this happens?  I don't have any Nvidia settings forcing the game to 4k. My monitor is only 1080p and I only run the desktop at 1080p.

Do you have DSR enabled in NVIDIA control panel?

(Dynamic Super Resolution).

Under "manage 3D settings" it says DSR - factors is set to 4.00x (native resolution) and it only goes down to 1.20x (native resolution).  I don't remember ever touching that setting though.

Yes, it is enabled by default and it makes games run at higher resolution than the monitor and it works sorta like anti aliasing.

You can turn it off. Personally I don't use it.

Yeah but there is no option for 1.00x and to me that is odd but it's not a huge fuss to just mess with the in-game settings, thanks though.

1.00x is enabled by standard because you can always run the games at your monitor's default resolution.

You need to disable the whole DSR feature to fix your issues (which is the box above the DSR factors in the Nvidia configuration 3d settings menu).

The next thing above DSR - factors is CUDA - GPUs.

Oh right, I remembered it wrong, but you should just uncheck all the DSR factors then, it has the same effect.
