Nvidia g-sync add on card

Go to solution Solved by Levent,

lols. i have an system refreshment that is going to cost me same as that card.

oh by the way it seems like that thing is bit different than the new g sync

http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia-sync-quadro-gsync.html

So I was looking on Amazon for a g-sync upgrade kit for the Asus monitor (can't remember the p/n), as they said there would be one.

I knew it was highly unlikely to be on there yet, but I thought it was worth a look.

However when I searched "G-sync" on Amazon, I found this.

I just wondered if anyone knows what it is/what it does. I couldn't work out much/anything from the item description.

Wondered if it had the same functionality as the new G-Sync technology that was announced the other day, but for quadro cards.

Thought that was unlikely as I didn't see why you would need the variable refresh rate in a non gaming scenario.

I'm not going to buy one or anything, just interested.

Thanks!

That explains it really well, thanks :)

Funnily enough, assuming it is compatible with your monitor as well as Geforce cards and not just Quadros, that card should actually be able to give you the same effect as G-sync. It's totally overkill for the task though, pretty sure the computers we have in the lab at my university use these to synchronize the outputs of multiple computers when modelling proteins, but also to manage multi-projector setups in the lecture theatres.

If the new Quadro card are using Kepler GPU why would they need to be upgraded in the first place?

Or in other words:

Because this card, whilst probably capable of the G-sync intended for Geforce cards, also has much greater functionality as detailed in the link provided by Letent. It's for if you want a single monitor to use multiple inputs or for having a single machine output to ~16 monitors.

It's for older quadros maybe?

Probably not, it's just the first G-Sync thing. (Edit: I mean it's not going to allow Fermi card to use G-Sync II)

That's why the name seemed familiar.

I was just saying that it couldn't be linked to G-Sync (II?) because the card don't need extra hardware to work, but it's G-Sync (I, this is confusing) so it unrelated.
