full erase of data on andriod phone

i am sending off my phone for repair and need to know a program which can completely remove all my data since factory reset is just not an option since i know it does not work the way it should.

Did you encrypt all the data on the phone?  If you are running Marshmallow or newer, it automatically does so.  You're right about factory reset, it doesn't do anything with regards to actually removing or over writing data.

 

There are some apps available for download that handle writing over data for you.

no but i remember Linus saying something about a program which was able to solve this problem i just can't remember the name

Just search secure erase in the Play Store.

 

iShredder seems like a good one.

just to add you can also fill up the storage with random data then remove it. That will help make it harder to recover data.
