I would go for it. The i7 2600 might be old but it should last you another 3-4 years.

if it's paired with a gtx 980 ti which one it's less likely to cause a bottleneck?

The Core i7 2600 will probably outperform the 8350, but the 8350 might beat it when overclocked.
 


The 8350 actually beats it when it comes to Cinebench and Rendering in Premiere Pro even at stock.

yeah i know it beats it in synthetic benchmarks but my focus is purely gaming

the i7 2600 is a mucher higher single thread rating therefore it would perform much better than the 8350. Case closed.
