LG PF1000U Ultra Short Throw Projector Giveaway

Hi There took the time to create a account here and on twitter just for this competition :+)

had a quick look at the specs and i was wondering if 1000 lumen is not a bit on the low side.

Anywayz this product looks like a potential replacement of my current 60" LG plasma screen.

Either put the screen to my bedroom or give it to a family member :)

Other thing that would be nice if it was able to support 4K maybe a bit to much especially for the price range but still.

the last thing i am wondering about i still have the idea that beamers make a noise. i could not find the noise this thing is creating. is it passive cooled maybe?

It's always nice to see the effort put into your videos. The tech you show is always cool and different. It's what makes the show great.

This projector is great for its size. It's able to project that big of an image from just a few inches away from the wall without being too big.

These are the key points that I would focus on regarding the projector...

  1. Portable and Ultra Short Throw (UST)
  2. Full HD
  3. DLP
  4. max 1,000 lumens
  5. Screen Sharing (Android)

My usage scenarios are presentations, movie screenings and maybe gaming... I don't see using this projector just by myself. Since I'd rather just use my laptop/desktop if that's the case. Instead since I'm moving to a newly renovated dorm next year I would rather host movie screening with my mates then. Having a projector as a go to source would be an excellent choice.

Considering I'm currently living in Japan, there aren't many expansive areas so I consider the 1st point as a positive thing. The areas that I frequent, co-working areas, dorms and the like its important to not have a permanent fixture. Having it UST is great in that regard as I can have a compact gathering.

I see Full HD as a minimum nowadays. Sure showing presentations on a WXGA res projector for instance is "good enough". However I'd love to have movies at a higher resolution whenever possible.

DLP... not a person notice rainbows. From Linus' video, it didn't seem like there were rainbows.

The 4th point... is a big factor. Luckily for most places that I can officially use a projector has a higher lumen than LG's and I'm in position to freely use them. ie. libraries and offices. Truth to be told, 1000 lumens is not at all bright. Considering the other points I don't see it as a limiting projector.

There were comments on LG's site that there were not enough apps and such. For me as long as I can connect my phone as a minimum I can just stream it from there.

It'd be great if I can win one!

From a business point this looks great for conferencing, placing the projector on the table without it taking up the whole table. on a consumer note it would be like having a portable cinema in your bag and of course a great way to do some awesome gaming in some epic locations. But like Linus said in the video, best to have external speakers!
