[Completed] The Arc

bamerx98

So this PC started out as a 384 dollar PC

Original Spec's

Phenom x4 955 BE

Coolermaster 335u/with 525watt psu

8Gb's of Gskill Ripjawz X Ram 2x4Gb 1600mhz (Bought for 38.99) I miss the price that I paid for ram ever since

Gigabyte 550Ti Windforce

1Tb Seagate Barracuda

Msi 760Gm (NEVER BUY THIS MOTHERBOARD EVER) Upgraded before I even had a picture of the PC

Original PC (After a New Motherboard)

Complete Video about the Computer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOpMbiz0Auw (At this Stage)

So after realizing that a 550 ti wasn't going to be pushing games at max settings and just didn't have the horsepower to keep me happy I did a lot of research about PC components looking for a graphics card with a killer Price/performance Ratio and something that could push 1080p Gaming no problem

So I decided a Powercolor 7870 Tahiti Myst. Edition, I was blown away by what this card could do with gaming, but it made me realize 2 things, My current case wouldn't be able to handle its extreme heat output and also that my CPU was bottlenecking it. I realized this with Crysis 3 as it would get a lot of micro stuttering

Shortly after I deiced to drop everything in to its current home and my favorite case Fractal Design Arc Midi R2

With the heat problem solved and also the disgusting old case gone I set my mind on a new CPU to eliminate the bottleneck of my x4 955 picking my baby the 8350

c84b7ad9ba51be2a5beabca60c7ee1f3.png

Shortly after dropping in the 8350 I started to notice that I was getting a burning smell from my computer, well there goes coolermaster 525 Watt PSU killing its self so I dropped some money in to a nice unit by Fractal Design, Their Integra 750 Watt and I've had no burning smell since

866976f4af1ef4595486e46376f4f4b1.png

After finally know that I had a good source of power directly to a nuclear generator I started to overclock the power hungry 8350 but fell short with the Hyper 212 plus that I had got for Christmas. I couldn't handle the fact that I wasn't maxing out my beast so I picked up a H100i

After having my PC completed I wanted that edge of fast boot times and just overall zappiness I picked up a SX900

Now that I've completed my PC here are the Specs

8350 Overclocked to 4.8 Ghz can do 5 but It's a little bit too much for heat output

Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0

PowerColor 7870 Tahiti Le

Gskills Ripjawz X 2x4Gb 1600 Mhz

Corsair H100i

Fractal Design Integra 750 watt PSU

Fractal Design Arc Midi R2

ADATA SX900 SSD 128Gb

Seagate Barricuda

White Cold Cathodes

Here are some pictures of the completed build

A massive before and after improvement. +1

Did you happen to test your GPU temps before and after changing paste? Thinking about doing mine.

I didn't really have a solid tests but I was getting to 88 on crysis 3 with stock and I thought I should change it, turns out the stock stuff was really crusty, now I only get around 80 or less, and at a lower fan speed

Very nice dude.

How would you rate that PSU by the way? I've been interested in the Fractal units for a little while now

To be honest I'm very impressed with the unit its been silent the loudest thing on Idle for me is the H100i pump witch its a hum when you have the side panel off or the hdd, but the only thing that I don't likke is it doesnt have the full 750 on the 12V rail, its around something like 672 but that's more then enough for my build, its a great psu and I would highly recommend it for its price and quality it uses seasonic components so its got good parts in it

Yeah the multi rail setup has thrown me off it abit, 672w off the 12v rail it alright though :)

Yeah, its enough for me to throw another video card in and still be fine :D

You can buy new heat spreaders for the ram, I've never tried changing heat spreaders but it is a cheap way to change the colour. They're cheap like $5-10 bucks from dx

AMD FX 8350, XFX Radeon 7950, 12GB Crucial 1600 ram, Corsair H60 cooler, CX600 psu, 60GB Vertex3 ssd, Seagate 2TB hdd, Zalman Z11 Plus case

could you upload a photo of the front and the top mesh with the cathode lighting as it is? I'm considering this case for my upgrade to AiO liquidcooling but I can't find any pictures of LED fans or cathodes in there so seeing if it glows through would be awesome :D

I just switched over to NZXT hue kit and there is not too much more or less light, with a RAD up top in my build I can't see much glow through the top its very faint, same with the front its a little bit more noticeable but still faint
