New computer or just upgrade?

okay so i am building a new computer i mainly game and video edit (too much of a puss to post my vids though) , i could just upgrade parts but kinda want a new i7 6700k my question is what do you guys suggest I do


Current system 
CPU: i5 4690 non k

RAM: 16 GB kingston hyperx 1666

Video: Asus oc 770 

Storage: 2x 1TB samsung HDD 
Motherboard : Asus Z97-c 

 

Possible upgrade options
SSD 1 tb 
video card 980 x 2 or a single 980Ti
i7 4790k 

 

new specs if I go for a new system

i7 6700k
gtx 980 just the one for now 

420 GB ssd 

DDR4 8-16 GB

i need help with the motherboard here

You currently have a great setup.  I'd recommend waiting until your want becomes a need.  Until then you could possibly satisfy the upgrade itch by grabbing the 420 GB SSD that you want.  It'll easily transfer over to the new build when you decide that you need it.  That alone will have a nice impact on overall performance.

only thing i would say to do is go up to a i7 4790 or something. it'd help you with editing. Plus a 980ti or a pascal card would be good for GPU, and if you really want a SSD i wouldn't spend so much on a 1TB one, i would just get a 512 or maybe a 120 as a boot drive? 2x 1TB HDD is fine for what you're doing, frankly. you'd just see some faster rendering speeds if you went to a 1TB ssd, but it'd be half the storage you had.
