Is the bend on my water cooled R9 290x worrying?

its called gpu sag

it happens when your gpu gets too heavy

in some cases its fine (no pun intended)

though when it sags a lot, it'll be a huge problem

to solve it, just tie it up with a line to the top of your case :D

Hi guys, I just bought a Corsair HG10 water cooler with the H60 on my r9 290x for cooler and quieter operation,

but I then later saw that my card is slightly bent towards the end (PCIe power side).

Is this normal or OK, or could it potentially break my card? The card works flawlessly now with no errors at all.

I'm just asking down the road if it could damage it. Thanks.

I don't think this is traditional sag, it seems to be bending in the middle of the card rather than across the PCIE slot

GPU sag is pretty common I think. If you want to reduce the stress on the card, you could use some sort of supporting foundation. A piece of 1/32" thick aluminum angle (painted to match) attached to the bottom of the case would probably work well.

I cant really see it in that picture, but a bit of droop is normal if you dont have a backplate.

High end gpus are long and heave and the pcb is not made of adamantium.

If its really bad it could make you card more likely to die at some point though,

backplates cost around 30$ mostly if you care about it, not sure if all work with the hg 10 though.

I suggest checking how the tight the screws in the low spot are. GPU sag is normally just a gradual lean, this is bowing at the 2/3 mark where the VRMs are.
