"The GIGABYTE GA-B85M-HD3 R4 has two RAM slots, which is 2 fewer than average. The RAM in these two slots may not exceed 16GB, even if more RAM sticks can physically fit."

I have http://motherboards.specout.com/l/6236/GIGABYTE-GA-B85M-HD3-R4 motherboard, and 2x8GB cosiar ram. I was wondering if I could upgrade to

2x16GB ram?.

So... It's a resounding maybe. It's rated for 2x8 sticks... But back in the P4 days mobos were rated for lower than they could realistically handle... It took a lot of fuckery.

And, can I use DDR5

No.

That board only has support for DDR3.

And DDR5 isn't a thing.

So Id have to get a new motherboard.

Not necessarily, an updated or custom BIOS could allow you to use more than the original specified limit.
