Perks of a GTX 750 Ti

270X is around 40% faster than a 750 Ti

EDIT: It's actually more than 40%
http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-750-Ti-vs-AMD-R9-270X/2187vs2188

Would me getting a GTX 750 Ti be an upgrade?

I currently have a R9 270x in my system and its not doing so well, my friend recently got a GTX 750 Ti, and he said its great and he runs MGS5 on it no problem. So i was wondering if that would be an upgrade?

Or do you think it would more benefit my HTPC running AMD A10-7850k?

you want at LEAST a R9 380 to feel a noticeable increase in performance.

The 270x is faster than a 750ti so that's not an upgrade at all.

if you can, like @don_svetlio said getting a 380 would be a worthy upgrade and you'd notice a difference. I personally think though you are better off saving some money and getting Pascal or Polaris when you can.

Honestly, even then, it's not gonna justify the price jump until we get into the 390 or 970.

sometimes if you're lucky and RMA a MSI AMD card they'll send you a better card back because they don't make the 2xx cards anymore. I don't know if you have MSI but I've seen people RMA 280's and get back 390x's

I'd say at least a 280X or possibly a 290 to have a worthy improvement.

But still, if you want to upgrade then make it worthwhile.

Obviously, I really hope Pascal comes out before May so i can save up and upgrade and make my system more future proof.

I'm waiting for Polaris. AMD says they intend to hurt Nvidia this time around, but if you like Nvidia then go for it. I think Polaris is releasing before Pascal this year so that means AMD is pretty confident it's gonna compete or beat Pascal.

Uhh, excuse me? The Nano is an excellent card, and only one of the cards from the Fury series. You can't base a future generation of GPUs off of the previous one, especially not with one card that wasn't even a failure.

How the hell did they fail? I'm appalled by your statement. 175W TDP, which is the same as the 380 Compact from Sapphire, yet it packs a full Fury X core and is faster than the GTX 980 while still being $500. In fact, if all goes well with XFX, I might be using it in my upcoming 5.4L custom chassis.

It came at a wrong time and its slower than its Nvidia competition(980), It also consumes more power and heats up more than the 980.

Honestly it isnt all that bad, but i would only put this card into a system with a small case, because i have yet to see a 980 at this size

It is not slower. It's (currently a bit above marginally) faster and will become even more faster as the drivers continue to improve. And a 10W increase in TDP is not at all a large increase, in fact I'd say it's marginal considering the variations between cards. If you stuffed a GTX 980 on the same board as the Nano with the same cooler (which isn't even possible with it's GDDR5 and all) it'd do the exact same thing simply due to the cooler size.

And that's exactly what the card is for: small systems. AMD designed it to be put in small cases and I think they've nailed it. I'd like to see someone make a 5.4L chassis like I am using a GTX 980 since it's the most equivalent in performance.
