Is it possible to deactivate my Windows 10 to reuse the key on a new machine?

Firearm2112

Hi guys,

I was wondering if i can somehow deactivate my Windows 10 Pro to reuse the key on a new machine. If so, how would I go about doing this

If it matters I bought the key from reddit for Windows 8.1

Thanks!

I heard you can deactivate Windows 7 and 8 & 8.1 through the CMD, maybe you can for 10 aswell, but make sure you make a note of ur product key!!!!

I think it depends on the type of key you have. If it's an OEM key I don't think it's possible. If you got a retail key then I believe you can call them and they'll switch it over.

As far as i know if you deactivate windows the key will not be available anymore.. you will need to buy another copy...

Here is a guide to how to do that if you want to try: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/165472-product-key-number-uninstall-deactivate-windows.html

If it's a Win10 key from Upgrading Win8.1, then no, you won't be able to. It's a generic key that nearly everyone who also upgraded got.

You might be able to do it if it was a OEM or Retail key of Windows 10.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB / RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4-3200
MOBO: MSI B450m Gaming Plus / NVME: Corsair MP510 240GB / Case: TT Core v21 / PSU: Seasonic 750W / OS: Win 10 Pro
