Why not?

Because it often causes issues and makes things worse, Windows Update should only be used for Windows stuff.

Get drivers and all that stuff directly from Nvidia/AMD and your Motherboard manufacturer's website

I guess I have the latest drivers installed? And windows update is showing a 3mb update, the whole driver is 80mb.

If Asus has nothing new for your motherboard I'd think so.

I've had the exact same Management Engine Interface update there forever, I've just ignored it.

On Windows 8.1 at least it's under "Windows 8.1 and later drivers", I don't update anything Windows Update says to be a driver.
