What I mean with "type of game" I actually meant the genre or style of gameplay, I don't find the Souls series that difficult to be honest, maybe a little unforgiven but that's it. I don't know if it's because I've been playing them since Demon's Souls. You say you like metroidvania games? then I really doubt Souls series would be difficult to you(I love metroidvania games as well.). The souls series are weird, and by weird I don't mean as in original, just weird gameplay. That's why I understand when someone doesn't like it. 

Yeah, it's not all that difficult after all.

I just...didn't like it.It's exactly that : weird.

And I just got Dark Souls II off the Steam Sale.

I hope we do get a PC release

part of that "quality" was its uniqueness, its atmosphere, its quirkiness, queer characters, and generally fucked up world, making sequels to that completely misses the point, i dont believe that can be replicated.

I have yet to pickup the series, hopefully I don't die before then. There's too many games to play (thanks Steam sale!), not enough time in the world.

I got so hype once I saw the bonfire.

for me Bloodborne looks like a proper follow up to dark souls, and now after the reveals of Last guardian and Horizon im gonna have to save up and buy a ps4 :(

Ds2 was so bad compared to the first one, and i felt so disappointed that i just cant get my hopes up.

 

That's because Miyazaki didn't direct that. He was busy working on Bloodborne.

 

Dark Souls III is completely directed by Miyazaki. Expect it to be on the same level as Demon's Souls, Dark Souls I, and Bloodborne.

I think Bloodborne is good, but I do prefer Dark Souls. Sure the base game for Dark Souls 2 was kinda trash, but the DLCs more than made up for it I believe. DS2 lore is also extremely rich as well I think they did a decent job with it. The world isn't as cohesive as it was in the other Souls games (that's what Miyazaki is really good at), but nevertheless I think the game was pretty decent. I just don't like how slow it is, clearly souls player prefer a slightly faster paced form of combat.

 

Bloodborne to me was a follow-up to Demon Souls. Personally I don't value Miyazaki as much as other people. 

 

Horizon to me took like Wither 3/Tomb Raider with robo dinos which is cool, I've never been interested in Last guardian. Tbh every conference this year was lackluster for me but I enjoyed Microsoft's more.

What I mean with "type of game" I actually meant the genre or style of gameplay, I don't find the Souls series that difficult to be honest, maybe a little unforgiven but that's it. I don't know if it's because I've been playing them since Demon's Souls. You say you like metroidvania games? then I really doubt Souls series would be difficult to you(I love metroidvania games as well.). The souls series are weird, and by weird I don't mean as in original, just weird gameplay. That's why I understand when someone doesn't like it. 

 

This. The Souls games aren't hard, and they aren't supposed to be. The devs don't try to make them difficult, they try to make them punishing but fair. If you make a mistake and fuck up, it's your fault.

Dark Souls isn't hard at all.  It's just the next level of fidelity in action combat.  :)  Well, okay... there are some traps here and there in the series that can accurately be labelled "dickmoves."  But all in all pretty fair game.

 

Glad to see this coming to PC, the earlier rumours posited otherwise.  I'm neutral on who makes the game, it's the core gameplay and online functionality that really do it for me.  

 

Bloodborne was really terrible though.  It's taking the Dark Souls community a long while to realize it, but they'll come around. Hype does that.  Dark Souls I is definitely my favourite.  Amazing atmosphere, great boss fights, just really... dark.  But it was heavily marred by technical issues.  Terrible, terrible port.

 

I appreciate Dark Souls II a lot, even though it is not quite as good as Dark Souls I, because all of the technical aspects worked right out of the gate. That made it much more replayable for me.

ive never been interested in it either, but my god that gameplay got me stoked, like almost fallout 4 levels of excitement. plus with all the ps4 re-releases (god of war, uncharted last of us ect) its shaping into a platform that i really want to get. If in the summer we see either a price drop/ storage increase/ or some super bundle i think im gonna go for it. 

 

On Bloodborne, ive seen a few lets plays and i really like the look of it, something just clicks when i watch it, i think i understand the game the same way i understand darksouls.

but from the trailer it feels like a continuation of ds2, like its building of that specific part of the world and the lore, and i just dont feel invested in that at all. If me the player is expected to already understand this world and how it was shaped then im afraid ive no interest.

 

And i do get that games are more about gameplay, and that Miyazaki's return might bring about the (imo) superior gameplay of DS1. However if i want that ill just play ds1........
