Probably the highest ping was when I used to play Starcratf with British players from Hong Kong on a 56k connection.

But as of what I know i was when I tried to log unto a BF3 server in Antartica and got a ping that showed as 999ms

I wish i remembered i was like 8 years old at the time (around 1999?). I do remember the co-op monster horde levels and they scared the shit out of me as a kid haha, THOSE PIXELS. My fav game back then was Starcraft, and i remember going with my dad to pick up broodwar when it came out we were so excited rofl. Still hard to believe i was able to understand a complex RTS like starcraft at that age, but to be fair i used alot of cheats and mostly played single player, i still remember some of the codes

Show me the money - minerals

Power overwhelming - God mode units

Food for thought - max supply

Black sheep wall - No fog of war

I look very fondly back on my childhood and it wouldnt be the same without Tac-Ops and Starcraft =P
