Total build cost comes out to $393.91.  Since it wasn't specified which currency to go with I went with USD.  Even then it was fairly brutal getting this build under $400.  Through much of the time I was researching this build I was certain I would have to downgrade the APU, but was able to squeeze the 7850K into the budget after going for a 64GB SSD and 500GB Mechanical drive (instead of 120GB SSD and 1TB Mechanical drive).  At least now if anyone comes to me wanting a dirt cheap PC in the near future I won't have to do the research again.

Does price beating count? Cause you could find the lowest price from one place but buy from someone like MemoryExpress which BEATS the price instead of matching. This could save some money.

I do this kinda stuff all the time so here's my stab at it.

I'm assuming all parts can be purchased at this moment now so no past deals or anything like that.

Had to sacrifice case and psu to to get more $$$ for gpu.

That no MIR rule doe. Had it not been that rule id put in an R9 270 with $20 left over.

Like im $2 over with an R9 270 i found bc of this rebate rule :(

CPU: Intel Celeron G1840 2.8GHz Dual-Core Processor  ($54.99 @ Canada Computers)
Motherboard: ASRock H81M-DGS R2.0 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($49.50 @ Vuugo)
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) ($54.99 with promo code EMCANKV98 @ newegg)
Storage:   120GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD ($60 @ amazon)
Video Card: HIS iPower IceQ X² Boost H270QM2G2M Radeon R9 270  ($149.99 @ NCIX)
Case: Power Supply: Diablotek DIAMOND ATX Mid Tower Case w/400W Power Supply  ($27.99 @ Micro Center)
Total: $397.46 (withshipping and taxxes and everything)
Additional $10 off if we can use MIR rule :(.
I feel like im the only one with an SSD.
EDIT: Updated with better cheaper RAM and therefore better gfx Card
added Gskill RAM instead of kingston bc cheaper and the R9 270x instead of the GTX 750

most probably episode 1, is the 300 CAD challenge (part 1,2,3), while episode 2 could be a completly different thing (different rules etc)

Your build has only 4GB of memory, a 160GB HDD, a fire hazard PSU, low quality case, poor cooling, and an inferior platform compared to mine.

Balance is important.

Aesthetics of rigs matter

What's your opinion on my build? We have pretty similar builds, but Linus/Slick doesn't have access to a Microcenter. Your build has a superior PSU/HDD and the RAM is questionable as you get slightly more performance with dual channel, but less upgradability (You have to replace the ram if you want to increase the amount, since your mobo only has 2 DIMM slots I think.) Plus, your build's price got raised to about $430 at the current moment.
