To suggest any more points that the poster should do is what are the intentions, whether to OC or SLI/CF. The new thread post should be clearly stated like "[intention] PC under [budget]" And the post itself should be with clear answers, as to what one needs with the budget (PC, OS, monitor, peripherals), intention (most important to least important), whether there are some parts one reuses, OC and/or SLI/CF right away, later or none, preferences for the case or colour of the parts, SSD yay or nay, and finally where one lives and what sites wants to buy the parts. That way people who are helping people, they can help them fast and  don't have to search answers from long posts.

Been over this a few times and we won't: parts change, prices change, availability of parts to regions and bias.

@Windspeed36 you should add what cooling you prefer (air or liquid) what kind of climate you live in (this helps decide how much of a problem heat will be) and what brands you prefer (if any)

So I am looking to build a second gaming PC that I can also use for school work and web browsing. Trying to build this in roughly 2 months with a budget of between 1400-1500 U.S. plus or minus $100. Going to be running one monitor at most two, will need mouse and keyboard, and a OS. Upgrading so I can give current rig to my younger brother so we can game together from time to time. Also looking into dabbing in overclocking and liquid cooling, case I was looking at is the Raidmax Winterfall Vampire.

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if I can get PC designed for me??

Budget & Location - The budget is around $2000 and location is Australia 2330 so $AUD

Aim - I want to be able to use this PC for gaming and Audio recording so I will be using Protools which requires 16 GB if RAM things and the games I will be playing will pretty much be anything.

Monitors - I will use 2 monitors but maby get a 3rd in the future the monitors are - BenQ EW2440L 24in at 1920 x 1080 2 of those.

Peripherals - No need I have keyboard and mouse ETC.

Also I would like a corsair case with window and some sleeved cable which I would like to go with a black and white theme.

I am upgrading because PC is old and I want a new one as I want to start to do heavy work on Protools and my PC is not capable of running it well.

Thanks for the help!  :)

This is a rig I am planning to build in a month or two and I would really appreciate some feedback. Budget is around $1600 USD and the things I would be using it for the most is PC gaming and video editing. I need a keyboard and mouse as well. I have one monitor as of right now and it is a Benq XL2420TE and will be getting a second a little bit after the build. Thanks for your guys help.

Hello to All,

First off, I visited this site because i really like the educational video of SIr Linus. Second, this is my first post so consider me a newbie. Third, okay here is my concern.

I'm planning to build a GAMING RIG (CPU only). This is just a plan after some research and this can still change depending on your comments. Let me go into detail.

1.Budget is 800-1000 USD & im from Philippines.

This translates to approximately 50,000 PHP at max. This is for CPU parts only.

2.

2.a. Play DOTA2 - my favorite game

2.b. Play games with very intense graphics like the most talked about BF3, farcry, Crysis, etc. and the likes.

2.c. web browsing, streaming, downloading.

2.d. I want to multitask like playing dota2, playing farcry, listening to music

2.e. I want to overclock my processor, GPU, or memory if possible.

3. The monitor is still not in my budget but i want atleast 21inches above capable of full HD 1080p. 121inches and 1small monitor is my plan.

4. No need for O.S. but for the mech. keyboard preferably for dota2 and for a mouse is still under research.

5. I'm upgrading because I have an almost 7yr. old. AMD Athlon dual core system.

Here is what I want.

Color motiff is GREEN :)

Processor: Intel core i5 or i7 haswell

MoBo: Iike ASUS but feel free to suggest. Upgrade ready for broadwell also

PSU: is 700W overkill? Suggest a good one bec. i will overclock

Graphics card: NViDia is what i want at the moment but feel free to recommend one.

Casing: Mid Tower Platform...Oh man... a one with a handle will be great :)

Storage: 1TB will do + SSD if possible

RAM: will 8GB will be fine? also pls. recommend the clock freq. and timing since I will OC.

Hydro Cooling: YES... suggestions?

Extra fans: Possible

That's it.. I hope I have posted what you need to know and please help me. Thanks in advance.

Pcparts estimates my wattage at 443W how much room should I leave for my power supply if I was looking to overclock my CPU and/or GPU? Is it even needed to overclock these in order to run bf4 on ultra at 60 FPS or will it just introduce more heat and noice into the system unessarily

Im also wondering about the i5 4690K processor, after doing a bit of research it seems like I can get a cheaper processor like the Intel Pentium G3258 and that overclocks really well, almost to 4.7gHz!

Should I do that instead? Thoughts?

Im also wondering whether the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  is good enough if im planning on overclocking?

thanks

1. Budget & Location

Hi all i live in Finland (North Europe) we have euros. The budjet is 600-700 euros (my friend has allready a windows lisecense). And out of out of curiosity if i get my friend to use  750-850 euros is it posible to build a dual boot that uses windows and OS.

2. Aim

The computer is going to be used to edit music, web browsing and to do light gaming (DotA 2, lol, csgo, etc.)

3. Monitors

1 monitor is good and the resolution 1920x1080

4. Peripherals

He has allready the monitor, keyboard and mouse (if the dual boot is posible then can i get any monitor recomendations, no need to but it in the budjet price can bee up to 200)

5. Why are you upgrading?

My friend is trying to make money out of making music, that is one of the main reasons why hes geting a new computer (he has 1 of the first windows 7 laptop and it takes it to open 5-10min)

6. Case

Something that you can carry in a sports bag. Or in a large backpack.

7.Were am i geting the parts?

http://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/catalog/6a/Komponentit

Is the cheapest and the most realiable place in Finland to get componets from. Just giving you a idea for the cost.

Ps. I have build 4 gaming computer, just to let you people know

Thanks for reading :D

Case- corsair 350D

Prcessor- AMD FX 8350

Ram- Dominator Platinum 16Gb

Cooling-  Corsair  H100i , 4 SP 120

Storage- 2tb, 500Gb ssd

Motherboard- Msi 760gm-p23

Video Card- Asus GTX 670 4Gb

Power supply- Corsair HX 750w pro series

and cable sleeving

My location is The US of A, and my budget is around 2000 dollars so if there is something i ca upgrade or anything i can add to this system please feel free to say so.

The reason i am building this is because i want a powerful pc to do some moderate video editing and gaming such as far cry 3, dead island, and metro last light.

Im not a big fan of multiple monitors but i will get a 32 inch ips monitor and maybe a settings/ notes monitor.

I am upgrading because i have an " out of the box" e machines pc

I appreciate any feedback , or comments you have on my part selection.

It looked like a good pc until i saw the cpu and gpu.

First gpu, nvidiia has just brought out the new gtx 980 and 970. I not saying get one of those because they are a bit out of budget but since there release they have dropped the prices of the 770 780 and 780 ti, so if I was you invest in one of them. Now for the cpu a good well priced cpu for your needs would be the 4690k from Intel

I figured I'd make this thread to make life easier for people to give advice and feedback on your proposed system. If you add these simple answer it means we don't have to ask you all this before we can give you answers :)

1. Budget & Location

You may have listed a heap of parts that all add up to your preferred budget but it is easier if you just list the total amount you'd like to spend and the currency as well as if you'd consider going above that budget for more performance. We need the location as well because $US are different to $AUD and $CAD ect.

2. Aim

What is the system going to be used for? Web browsing, 3D work? Different systems need different levels of performance - a computer based for web browsing and office use won't handle heavy graphic design and video editing and a proper video editing system isn't good for gaming. If your aim is for gaming, please list what sort of gaming. In the same way that different usage types need different systems, you'll need a lot more power to run Far Cry 3 or Crysis 2 than you would Minecraft.

3. Monitors

How many monitors do you plan on running? Do you plan on moving to more monitors in the future? What resolution are they at too?

4. Peripherals

Do you also need to purchase peripherals such as keyboards and mice as well as monitors ect. Also please tell us if you'll need an OS such as Windows.

5. Why are you upgrading?

We ask this because you may see upgrading as the only path to solve an issue but things such as driver updates, reconfiguration or cleaning can boost performance without spending a cent.

Please copy and paste the major dot points into your thread as it makes it easier for us to give you better feedback.

Have fun and keep building :)

Hi there!

1. I am from Singapore and my budget is around $1500 SGD

2. I am going to use the computer for recording gameplay, editing, playing games like MineCraft and Counter Strike casually as i am more of a console gamer, surfing the web and streaming movies and music.

3. Currently I plan on running on one monitor buy I may upgrade to 3 in the long run maybe even after months. The first monitor that I will be using is running at 1920x1080.

4. No I do not need any peripherals.

5. I do not have a pc right now. So i would like a buy one.
