Looking to make a switch to pc gaming from console. $300 is my price range and after watching https://youtu.be/epIlB49SNTI I'll be willing to do server parts too. Live in California, no peripherals, and use US$. Looking to play games like Overwatch, Mobas, and Destiny 2. One monitor and dont care how it looks either. Link some suggestions so I can take a look at them. Thank you

If you have the patience to wait for this moons to be in stock again, otherwise go for intel

Hello everyone! Hoping to get some insight and help on upgrading to a more stable system.

Currently I have 2 different setups that I use to game just because of convenience. I am not tied currently to either system but if I can upgrade the GPU to work then great if I need a whole new build then ok.

Located in Canada, have access to US market if needed.

Around $1800 CDN

Want to play Destiny in 4k, 3d modeling and video editing.

Build 1:

Intel Skull Canyon Nuc (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/boards-kits/nuc/kits/nuc6i7kyk.html)

It has a 512gb m.2 hardrive

32gb - (2) Ripjaws Series 16GB DDR4-2133 SO-DIMM

Razer Core with a 980  8gb GPU.

Build 2:

Razer Blade Stealth - 4K (512GB)

Razer Core with a 980 8gb gpu

Thanks for your thoughts and help!!

1. Budget & Location

Im hoping to spend around €2,500. I live in Ireland.

2. Aim

Im hoping for the pc to be great and basically everything with a bit more power towards gaming, so I would be hoping to have a GTX 1080ti but also an i7-7700k.

3. Monitors

I want to have a dual monitor setup but I dont need help choosing monitors as I already have them.

4. Peripherals

No need for any peripherals

5. Why are you upgrading?

Im upgrading because I bought my PC about 5 years ago, I upgrade the graphics to a GTX 750ti about 2 years ago. This was just to get me by. The PC is slowly dying now as it is struggling to do simple things like open the task manager and lags when browsing the web and so on. Im happy with the use I have got out of it but its time to move on.

those parts should fit together fine but for sli you need a high bandwith bridge like this one https://www.scan.co.uk/products/evga-pro-sli-bridge-hb-2-way-with-120mm-4-slot-spacing-led-logo-high-bandwidth-bridge-for-geforce-gt I would also recommend including an ssd to boot from

Hey! New here, love the site, love the videos. Could use some help and suggestions if anyone is up for it. Never built a PC, but I feel like I am good with things like this.

1. Budget & Location

USA $2000-$3700(Maybe a little more if necessary for performance)

2. Aim

I intend on building a PC to run my audio engineering sessions. Processing audio in a DAW gets very very CPU intensive. I never can find solid information on what practically makes it run more smoothly. If it helps, I am using Ableton Live mainly and Bitwig. The CPU spikes come with certain third-party plugins like reverb. The spikes increase the more plugins used at a time. I don't know if the amount of cores matters or not, but I think it'd be wise of me to wait for these new 8th gens. I also do some video editing (Adobe Premier and Resolume). I know its overkill but I'm thinking 64gb of the fastest ram. I can't have something super loud, minimal noise. Preferably 4k capable. This article is pretty good but don't know how accurate it is https://support.image-line.com/knowledgebase/base.php?ans=214. I definitely want some USB type C ports, and maybe a thunderbolt (maybe not). At least 1TB SSD (2tb is better) and space for mutiple hdds, I'm thinking at least 6 tb total. I'm trying to build a crazy machine that I can handle a million plugins at a time, something that is future proof for the next few years.

3. Monitors

Running one monitor for now, defiantly more in the future (doesn't necessarily matter quality for the extra ones). Open to monitor suggestions. I want something BIG and easy to look at so I don't have to move close to read things. 4k is a must.

4. Peripherals

I am open to any keyboard, mice, and monitor suggestions. Most likely installing Windows, but open to others.

5. Why are you upgrading?

I am still running on a 4th gen i7. It's not cutting it. I've been saving up to go pro and the time has come.

All help is much much appreciated, thank you and have a great day everyone :)

- Budget: the budget is around 1500-3000 (would like to see builds on both ends)

- Zip Code or Location: Los Angeles

- Specific Use: Will be using it as a home lab to run several VMs. May game occasionally. If I did, the only games I would be playing would be CS:GO, DOTA2, Overwatch.

- Any preferred components?: Debating between Dual Xeon, AMD Threadripper(Support still seems iffy for ESXi), open to any suggestions. Realistically looking for as many cores as possible within my budget and at least 32GB RAM

- Any spare parts you can re-use?: nope

- Overclocking your processor?: nope

- Need an Operating System?: win10 pro

- Need a Monitor? / Mouse? / Keyboard?: no

- Need a Wireless Card or Adapter? Yes

- Need Another Component? (Specify): suggestions on liquid cooling whether I should go custom or get something like a h100i

Overview:

- Budget: £750-950 (for GPU, CPU, Mobo, RAM, cooling, HDD, and maybe case)

- Location: UK

- Specific Use: Intensive gaming and light streaming.

- Any preferred components?: 16GB ram DDR4, 1TB HDD

- Any spare parts you can re-use?: M.2 250gb SSD

- Overclocking your processor?: maybe

- Need an Operating System?: Win10

- Need a Monitor? / Mouse? / Keyboard?: no

- Need a Wireless Card or Adapter? No

- Need Another Component? (Specify): nope, but wouldn't mind spending a little extra for a decent-ish case

Current setup:

I currently have the following parts, of which I will only keep the SSD and monitor. I will sell the rest to fund this build. I included this as a baseline for improvement, to see if my budget is enough for a significant performance boost:

Mobo: Gigabyte H170-HD3 DDR3

CPU: i5 6500

GPU: GTX 960 (4gb)

RAM: 8GB DDR3 @ 666MHz (9-9-9-28)

Storage: 250GB Samsung SSD 850 EVO M.2

Monitor: Acer XF240H 24", 1080p @120hz. It's freesync enabled but I've never used AMD so I've never even looked into cards for it, since I don't mind not using it, but it would be nice if I could (not essential).

Hi thank you very much for this epic build, right now I'm purchasing the products but I encountered some problems.

This product "Kingston - FURY 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory" is not currently available in both ebuyer and overclockers, is

there a better substitution?

And I didn't understand what is this for? "Gigabyte GC-WB867D-I Network Card"

Finally, I just moved here to Cardiff 2 weeks ago and I have no idea what equipment do I need to have to

build up this PC, could you please tell what equipment I will need to build this PC?

Hi, I would recommend going with AM4 So switching the core i3 with Ryzen 3 1200 and overclock it or if you don't want to overclock go with Ryzen 3 1300x.

Because you would get much more peformance out of a quad core and AM4 leaves more room for future upgrades. Also this means you will have to get a b350 mobo. The rest of the build is good, I'm guessing you are using this For 1080p gaming?

  • 1 month later...

I have gone severely over budget and was wondering if anyone could advise on where I can save money. (the goal is to get as close to CAD $1700 as possible. ALL prices are in Canadian Dollars)

Looking to buy the following.

CPU: i5 8600K @$350 (would like to overclock. ive also heard the 8400 can be overclocked, is this true? because i can save a good 100$ CAD)

Cooler: Corsair h60 cpu cooler @$97

Mobo: Msi Z370 Gaming Plus @$163

RAM: Corsair Vengence lpx 8gb ddr4 2400 MHz (2x4gb mem kit) @$120

GFX Card: MSI GTX 1060 6GB @$407 (Ideally an EVGA 1070ti but trying to knock down my spends)

SSD: Sandisk 120GB SSD Plus @$80

HDD: Seagate Barracude 2TB @$83

Monitor: BenQ Zowie XL2730 2K Monitor @$480 (Really want a 2k high frame rate monitor that is adjustable)

PSU: Evga 750W B2 @$123

Cabinet: Phanteks Eclipse P400 TG Edition @$100

Case Fans: Corsair AF120 4 Fans @$58

TOTAL: $2061

Off the top of my head I would downgrade the CPU to the i5 8400 with stock cooler/hyper 212 evo. (i would love to overclock this if possible... first time overclocker)

Second if you guys recommend, i can junk the liquid cooling and stick with the hyper 212 evo for Overclocking the 8600K (but i hear it gets pretty hot)

I can also drop the SSD and save $80 and upgrade later i guess.(obviously would like to avoid doing that)

My last resort is to convert that GTX 1060 into a 1050Ti from Zotac.

These are the only ways i think i can save.... please help guys. If you have any better recommendations I would absolutely love them!

Hi Everyone!!!

I am from India and I am planning to build Gaming Desktop PC. Following is the specification of my existing rig whose parts (if applicable) can be used for my new build, however in such case it must be replaced with some cheaper option:

Processor: Intel i5 4690k

MS: Asus Z97 Pro Wifi-ac

RAM: Corsair Vengence 2 x 8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz

GPU: Asus Geforce GTX 760 2GB

HDD: 4 x WD Black 1TB

SDD: 1 x Corsair Neutron 120 GB

PSU: Corsair RM 850

Cabinet: Corsair Carbide 500R

Monitor: Sony KDL-42W700B which doubles up as a TV

KB & Mice: Logitech K260 Combo

Fans: All Stock Fans are being used.

Built date: Aug'14

Cost: INR 160,000 (USD 2300)

Now what I am planning to build is:

Processor: Intel i7 8700k

MS: MSI Godlike z370 / Asus Maximum X HERO Z370

RAM: G.Skill Trident Z 4 x 8 GB 3600 Mhz

GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 Hybrid (water Cooled one)

HDD: 2 x WD Black 1TB

SDD: 1 x Samsung 960 Pro  512GB M.2 SSD

PSU: Corsair Hx 1000i or use the existing one and buy PSU of 600 W rating

Cabinet: Still searching which can accomodate my CPU and GPU radiators

Monitor: Any 40-43 inch 4K monitor

KB : Wireless Mechanical KB with Cherry MX brown switches

Fans: NZXT Kraken X62

Build date: By Feb'18

Budget: INR 275,000 (USD ~ 4000)

I want to  play all modern AAA games with ultra or very settings

I don't like FPS games, but i do like Action adventure, Role playing, Strategy & Sports Games

Few examples of such games are: Assassins creed series, Shadow of War, FIFA series etc.

I will be overclocking it to boost the performance, however auto overclocking option will also do

I would also be using it for some basic to intermediate level of video editing.

I am ok with 60 Hz refresh rate monitor as long as it is min 40 inch

The temperatures here in summer are high ranging from 40 degC to 48 degC

RGB effects not necessary

Thanks in advance for those who help me with this rig.

- Nikhil
