Laptop thermal paste change

So I will be changing my laptops thermal paste, and I would just like to know how much paste I should put on it. Also when I take off the heatsink and some of the paste has gone over, can I clean it with 99% alcohol, or any other cleaning product and it will be fine?

How much should I put on it?

imagine a very anemic grain of rice. I personally spread a thin layer on laptop CPUs because of the low mounting pressure. it doesn't take much at all on a laptop CPU because it is a bare die

Yeah you can clean it with 99% alcohol just fine (let it evapore before putting thermal paste on). And I usually use a little bit less then grain of rice since it is smaller than desktop CPU lid.

My modded Air 540 build
