Might as well get an external ssd since it's only 500GB. An SSD would be more durable and faster.

I would prefer the T1 as it's built off 850 Pro technologies. Higher durability V-NAND and better firmware at the same price point. It's essentially an external 850 Pro.

I think this is good news for ultra portables at least. I don't see the point in such a slim portable hdd. That being said, I don't use a portable hdd so I'm not the target audience.

I have 2 x 2TB External HDDs.. Still cannot compromise with that. So that.

That out of the way, I'd LOVE to see how many of these slim drives would be possible in a hotswap cage for three 5.25" bays, and if anyone's going to do it.

 

If it's just 4-6 drives to 1x 5.25" bay, then it's a completely pointless product for anyone but boutique laptop money wasters. If it's 8... We could be in business.

It's a harddrive. It looks like any other harddrive would if they bothered to polish the casing. I guess it could be used in an ultra-thin notebook, but wouldn't you have an SSD (m.2 for ultimate thin-ness) in one of those anyway?

I have one external 2tb but I wouldn't want it to be portable. I'd rather not have that increased chance of failure. *shudder*
