How does G2A Shield work?

Forgive me for my ignorance, but how exactly does G2A Shield work? The description on the site is quite vague, and details having to share screens? I don't get it. How are you supposed to verify that the code works? Do you share screens to get the code, or...?

 

I'm quite confused.

Think of it like shipping insurance, if there is a problem with the code they will deal with it, it is used to protect you when buying from users in the G2A marketplace.

When you buy with the G2A shield. You don't get the code. Rather you have to wait in line for a customer service rep to do it for you. They will ask you in install a remote desktop tool where they can view your screen then they will give you the key and watch you enter it into steam. Then when the activation is complete then they log off and you can enjoy your game.

If you pay for the Shield protection, you get sent a small file to download & run, which gives one of their employees to remotely access your PC, but only as a viewer. They can only see your screen, nothing else. They then watch you try to activate the key, if it doesn't work they get another one for you. It's both for your safety, and for G2A. If a seller keeps trying to peddle dodgey keys which don't work, they won't be allowed to sell on their site any more. It's imperative you pay that little fee for the protection tbh, you're still paying less for the key than from the main retailers anyhow.

 

After the key has been activated, you thank them then close the application, or they will. Then just delete that little app and you're done.

Thanks guys. I never mentioned it specifically, so my fault, but how do they verify operating system keys? Like Windows 8?

This is exactly right. But sometimes (if your from Australia) it's better to buy direct from steam, since the exchange rates, are not too good at the moment it's better to just buy from steam. But yeah G2A shield is basically 'shipping' insurance.

That's unacceptable, I'm glad I never went through with it and likely never will.

Yea I didn't like the idea of having someone remotely connect to me and view my screen. But usually theres are not an issue so I just stopped using G2A shield. It saves me a few $ and I get the game 5 mins quicker

We know it's been a while since you made a query about G2A Shield. Indeed, once it was handled via screen share, what allowed us to verify how does the activation process go. If one of our operators saw live that activation didn't go well we were able to instantly refund such purchase. Some things have changed though and this procedure is no more applicable.
