@Benji_w Well I think I'll get one of those silver heatsinks and paint them blue and double sidr tape the stock heatsink over the 90c fittings - silli but will look fantastic

Yeah it kinda sucks they only come in like non colour forms but I guess its because of the copper? not sure? I'm going to leave mine nickel because it doesn't bother me but if i was building a theme build then I'd paint them.

You might as well cool them, it would be silly not to plus you'll push the clocks further this way, as the saying goes over on OCN, If you can cool it, you can clock it!

Woah, it's been a while since I haven't uptated this thread. Anyway, I decided to go with the new 980 TI over the standard 980, and it should be here next week. I also got the gaming kb and mouse and a Samsung 850 evo 250gb

Haven't been on this forum in a while, too many biased opinions and misinformation. Good to see you're still going ahead with this, my AMD rig is still running as strong as ever but I hit 71c on the cpu under load in ARMA II DayZ mod so need to mod my case and fit my 360 rad to the roof as an exhaust and my 240mm rad as an intake on the front, I also want to put my 120mm rad on the floor and flip my exhaust fan as an intake.

I agree. Everyone bashes the shit out of me for using a high end GPU with an AMD FX CPU.I just got thw 980 Ti 2 weeks ago. It works perfectly, here are some pics of it. I will buy the waterblock later.

Sweet build, mon! Good to see some AMD love around here, they aren't as bad as everyone keeps saying. Its kinda a thing on LTT it seems, to bash AMD cpus and love everything intel. If you overclock to 4.5ghz you are on par or faster than a 4970 in most instances anyways.

 

I used an 8320 in my build in my sig, clocked currently at 4.7ghz. Very fun to overclock these AMD cpus!

Wow it's been a year since I made this thread. The project is still WIP. Since FrozenCPU died I might get the 900D after all. Shipping from CL is too expensive. But for Christmas I'll be getting a 4k monitor

So I went for the 900D because CL doesnt make white SMA8s anymore and FCPU is death so shipping is 375$ from their site. Will arrive on the 15th. Also updated the first post and updated the PCPP link. New pic of the build as it is now

you need to upgrade your signature it says the 980ti has a stock cooler, and I knew that the 8350 doesn't bottle neck as bad as people say... -20 fps sure...

Using DSR removes the bottleneck that does occur at 1080p @Clear17Mud

And I still get over 60 FPS at 1440P with 130% scaling in BF and the GPU usage is at 95-99 percent always
