Looking for a Gigabit switch with SFP

rufee

Hey guys,

So im in the market for a 16-24 port gigabit switch it needs to have an SFP port that supports 1.25 gig/s modules, and be a managed one.

What are you guys using ? What could you recommend ?

Thanks.

Something wrong with your connection ?

Run the damn cable :)

The Cisco SLM2024 would fit those criteria. Its around $300 - $400 new, but im sure you could find a second hand one for under half that price.

Cisco small business switches (which is what he would be looking at) start much less than that.

Well i was looking for something used at around 100$ and should have stated that upfront, but from the looks of things i can berally afford a smart one with an SFP port.

Guess il just have to stick with a non-fiber one for now.

Why did you whan't it anyway, its a pointless thing to have unless you're hitting the limit of 1Gbps.

You can find the TL-SG2216 (16 port managed with 2 SFP ports) for about 140 USD on amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Tag-Based-Trunking-Mirroring-TL-SG2216/dp/B009LEJJM6/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1368376627&sr=1-1&keywords=TL-SG2216

If you look a bit on Ebay or so, you might fit it in your 100 bucks budget.

Look at the netgear prosafe smart switches, I got mine used on ebay. GS748T is the 48 port equivalent so GS724t should be fine for you

Im still rocking a 24 port "Cisco 3500XL"

Not so great for moving around large files, but it keeps all my servers and the rest of my house running.
