Please do continue sharing great classical pieces :D

Always glad to see there are still people enjoying these great compositions.

I'm unfortunatly pretty basic in my taste in classical music.

I really like Wagner, for example.

Ideology aside, I still hold to Der Ring des Nibelung being the most important work in regards to the development of Western fantasy.

I'm also basic enough to fall in love with Mozart's Don Giovanni due to Søren Kierkegaard's praise of the piece:

I don't see anything wrong with that, there is already a severe lack of people who enjoy classical pieces in this day and age.

Not familiar with Der Ring des Nibelung I'll need to take a look at that one.

Prepare for a rabbit hole of astronomical proportions.

I believe the entire Ring Cycle, with all four parts, takes at least 17 hours.

But I would say it's worth it. It's basically Lord of the Ring written 50 years before Tolkien got the idea.

It's not so much that there's anything wrong with it, just that people probably aren't going to learn anything new from me.

I haven't really experienced a lack of interest in classical music, personally. But my primary social group are also musician or people that in some way work with music, so that might be why.

On a similar note. what's your opinion on more contemporary classical composers?

I don't want to assume, but are you familiar with the classical movement that came out in Japan during the post-war years?

A lot of Ikuma Dan's music found its way into Akira Kurosawa movies, so it might be familiar.

As the title says, what song are you listening to right now. I tried looking for another thread similar to this and couldn't find one (If there is one I apologize for creating another one).

@Volbet Helloween did Wacken live on FB, and you can hear the age in their voices.  Kiske's voice got a lot darker over the years.  But, he starts out singing Halloween then Dr. Stein.

It would be kinda weird otherwise. Being the singer of Halloween must take quite the toll on ones voice.

I just like that Kiske is at least still fitting for Halloween. Unlike Halford and Gillian he's actually still capable of singing their songs.

I’m an atheist. NF’s a Christian but  I don’t care. not only he can rap but he has bars. I’d rather listen to him than Drake’s Scorpion.

I guess this is as good a time to say it as ever: I really don't get the hype surrounding NF. He just seems like a third-tier Eminem clone to me.

He has basically the same flow as Eminem, and makes use of similar production, but he fails to create the same multisyllabic schemes that actually makes that flow work.

There's also his problem of using metaphores that makes no sense, It's like he understands that metaphores works but not why they work.

Sure, he's a bit more edgy than most christian rappers, but he still comes off as an amature that made it big due to his ideological leaning.

Sure, I would listen to him over Drake, but I would listen hundreds of MCs over NF any day.

Well I was just getting to start appreciate rap songs. NF (and Mike Shinoda) was suggested to me by Crunchy Dragon so there's that.

In that case I'll take my inquiry about NF's popularity elsewhere.

MIke Shinioda is considered a rapper? You learn something everyday, I guess.

Post Traumatic as well featured quite a bit of rap from Mike.

Rapper, backup vocalist, keyboardist, and rhythm guitarist for Linkin Park was his "official title".

Back during Hybrid Theory, Meteora, and through the Fort Minor days he rapped on a lot of tracks. Those were the most notable times, after The Hunting Party he didn't rap as much(only once on One More Light) until Post Traumatic.

I'm not familar with his side projects, nor his solo work, (hell, I'm barely familiar with Linkin Park) so I'm not going to argue from that.

But i will say that there's a difference between rapping and being a rapper.

Just like Rebirth doesn't make Lil' Wayne a guitarist, neither does Meteora make Mike Shinoda a rapper.

But for all I know he's putting MF Doom to shame in Fort Minor, so what do I know.

That's fair.

There is definitely a line between rapping and being a rapper.

Something a little different for those of you who've been paying attention to my posts in this thread.

This was genuinely hilarious by the way.
