Apple Watch cellular uk confusion

Hey everyone! 
 

My partner is planning on getting me a series 6 watch on o2 uk. 
 

I’ve been told that I can’t use it paired with my iPhone XR that is on Vodafone as the watch is being ordered under her o2 pay monthly account. 
 

Can anyone clarify this?

Apologies I think you mis understood the question. As the watch is being supplied under my GF's O2 contract account I have been told that even if I pair it to my phone I will receive the texts from her number?

If the watch comes tied to O2 service, that's unfortunately the case -- I think your partner didn't entirely realize that she needed to buy one tied to your number (or ideally, unlocked) for it to work as intended.
