Most machines today have gigabit ethernet. In fact, many machines did since around 2010 or so. Without Gigabit ethernet you can't get anything higher than 100MB/s of what was called "Fast Ethernet" back then.

FastEthernet is 10/100 (aka 100Mbps aka 12.5MB/s), not 100MB/s

So can I check, is it 450mbps or 450mb/s?

Not sure why people are trying to make this distinction...he's talking about Gigabit internet, he's clearly not getting 450MB/s

I assume the 450Mbps is from speedtest.net or fast.com?

Have you tried different speedtest.net servers? The results can vary wildly depending on your ISP's peering/upstream

You've confirmed nothing else is downloading while running these tests? e.g Steam/Origin/Console games updating?

Have you tried doing multi-thread downloading? e.g Linux ISO torrents? Typically you'll need multiple threads if you want to max out gigabit.

I typically find it difficult to get above 800-900Mbps

Keep in mind that residential fibre services generally use GPON deployments which are "shared", so your performance can vary...also depends on the ISP's caching technology, peering agreements, upstream contracts, etc...and many other factors. Gigabit doesnt mean a guaranteed 1000Mbps.
