Xbox series X VS Laptop

I'm trying to decide between getting a Xbox series X and a cheaper laptop purely for school/productivity or to just go for a gaming laptop. If i went with a gaming laptop I would have around £1300 budget so could get RTX 2060 mobile with an I7 10th gen and 16gb of ram. Would i get better performance out of the xbox or a laptop with that kind of specs.

The former sounds significantly better

Gaming laptops are heavier, have worse batteries and are usually much louder on an idle level

Fast

Cheap

Portable

I will use with a 24 inch 144hz 1080p monitor some of the time and the rest of the time on a 50 inch 4k tv

Thanks, will probably go for something like a£700-800 Inspiron, envy or zenbook

Wait for the ARM MacBook to drop, that's supposedly gonna be £800 and they'll have an education discount.

I too would recommend the lighter laptop over a gaming one for school. A little weight savings doesn't sound like much but it is very noticeable over the day.

Just go with the XSX and a decent laptop solely for school. My experience with any gaming laptops has just been that they are loud, hot and bulkier than all hell. Also XSX will be future proof outside of 2-3 years unlike the laptop.

I really don't like Mac so will definitely not go for that. Should've said that I want a Windows laptop

I am just really not a fan and much prefer windows. Also I currently don't have any computer so need to get ASAP so can't really wait do that macbook

Fair enough but the best ones you can get are the AMD 4000 series and they're never in stock

Can’t say for sure, since I buy games rarely, but with a constant stream of steam/gog discounts and availability of games (including xbox game pass), a gaming laptop might be a cheaper purchase in a longterm.

Unless you are planning on buying/selling xbox discs all time of course.

Xbox series x and a decent laptop with an ssd in it. Gaming laptops suck, they get super hot and are heavy as hell. 

No cpu mobo or ram atm

2tb wd black gen 4 nvme 

2tb seagate hdd

Corsair rm750x 

Be quiet 500dx 

Gigabyte m34wq 3440x1440
