PCI GPU?

I have an old Dell Dimension that I'm working on resurrecting. Obviously the onboard graphics are not very good, so I was looking for a GPU to use. Retro games and ability to handle a modern HD display would be great.

Note: I'm not looking for PCI-e, as the board can't use it. I need PCI specifically.

Old, pre-AGP PCI graphics...?  That'll be a fun search.

Any chance you have a model number for it? You can still look up the specs and supported devices if you know where to look.

It's the 4500S, if that helps. Dell's site only lists a few accessories for compatible parts, unfortunately.

There may be an AGP slot, but I can't really tell.

It'll be set back a bit from the rear of the board - are there any identifiers on the board or is it possible to post an image of the expansion ports here, please?

No AGP. Here's an image of the motherboard:

I've found this so far. But since the power supply is 180W, I don't know if this would cause problems or not.

The card? I found one in a old POS, I grabbed it since it was a GPU not made by Nvidia or AMD/ATi

That's a PCIe 2.0 card... nothing GeForce is compatible.

The Intel 845G chipset is EIGHTEEN years old...

The listing says PCI, and the slot looks the same as a PCI card I have that came with the PC (it's not a GPU, however).

I Googled it - It's PCIe 2.0

 

EDIT:

The graphics are onboard & cannot be 'over-ridden'.

No, the GT 610 has a select few PCI variants. I'm pretty sure this listing is one of them.

@Aimi - that board is likely to be Pentium 4 era; the Socket, most likely PPGA 478.

 

It'll be labelled "Socket 478" or something similar.

The fastest PCI (not PCIe) would be the Geforce 8400 GS series. DirectX 10 card that ranges from 256MB to 1GB of RAM. You can find them anywhere from $25 to $100 on eBay. Pay close attention, some more often than not come in PCIe editions too.
