Buying New Pc

So im getting ready to buy a new pc to be able to do 3d rendering and other design things along with some gaming on my off days. I kinda want some insight on if the rig at its price point is a good deal as well as powerful enough to do thus projects.

for rendering dont you think something like ryzen 9 with lot of core do better? 3950X for example.

..Or even a 3900.  The 9900 stuff is all about money for a small gain in single thread.  Depends on what software you’re running of course.  More cores/dollar with AMD.  A lot of arts software prefer core count over single thread.  A 3900 may actually be quite a bit faster than a 9900 for what you do, while being as close as doesn’t matter for gaming. Depends on software of course.

what software do you do your  3d rendering on? Especially if it is Autodesk software it does not give a shit about what brand of CPU you are using and you are better off getting the higher performing 3900x or 3950x. I personally would love to move to a 3950x but unfortunately i built my 9900k pc before 3rd gen ryzen was even announced.

Going to be doing most of my 3d stuff in 3dsmax and blender. But im going to be also using it for gaming in off days. Rn my price cap is about 2500 including getting a newer monitor

it will be the same if not better in games. which SI are you purcahsing from? prices seem to be a little too high for the spec.

Right now ive been bouncing around from site to site but that was done on the cyber power website it seems the case im wanting is about $100-$150 more then the others tho

have you considered building it yourself? as you are paying much more for less than what i have recommended

Ive thought about it but im kinda short on time. I start school on march 2nd so i can really sit around waiting on parts to get here. So i was looking for the best prebuilt for the money. Even if it means having to spend a little more.

is there any microcenter near you? dont use a 120 rad with a 3900x though. that wont be enough

Well im located in southern california so if needed i could make the drive down to like frys electronics or some other store in LA.

I concur.  I’m not even a fan of 240mm AIOs. That d15 black that got mentioned will have the cooling power of a 240 while being quieter and more reliable as long as there is case room and the computer is not in a vehicle or something.  It wants memory with low height heat sinks though so nothing tall or RGB.  I advise against RGB myself.  It’s more money (often a LOT more) for zero performance gain.  Some people really like their computer to also be a lamp and be the focal point for a room though. I personally consider the entire RGB market to be predatory and avoid it on that basis alone, though there are other reasons to do so.
