Love this video.  You people rock!

i have some perhaps less common requirements though mostly because I am old.

i want 30+” (so 32” probably) 1440p (don’t need 4K)

This is mostly because what I got is 30” but it’s dual link dviD only and that is getting harder and harder to make work.  It also has no sync (it’s 2012-2013 as far as I can tell). Big is good.

freesynch would be nice but not critical though.  I don’t need wildly accurate color and I don’t need 144 hz.  75 hz. Is fine.  I do like nits  though.  The deal is my eyes are old.  144hz is great for the kiddies but my old eyes just can’t tell the difference anymore.  I am finding I need more light to do the same things though so lots of nits Are probably good.

So basically one for the geriatric set.

What would I be wanting to look at?

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Haven't used most of these, but got a the lil Acer SB220 while back for one of my families builds, they loved it!  Decent vid for sorting through the alphabet soup that is shopping for modern monitors.

also, tfw end of 2019 and still no OLED 21-27 inch 120hz+ gaming monitor for CRT like response, anti-blur, and input latency ?

Kind of bummed out that the Acer XB273KGP (EU name, couldn't find the NA one) is being slept on :/. Its a 120hz (Up to 144hz) 4K IPS monitor with really acceptable response times for anyone who likes to game on their free time but would benefit from the extra pixels that the 4K display provides. AND IT JUST COSTS 700€! (800$)

The main difference between it and the X27 is the lack of local dimming zones.

I feel like it gives anyone buying a new monitor now something that will last them for a long time, because well, at the moment its really hard to run games at 4K 120 FPS, besides esport titles. But when that changes, you will already have the monitor up to the task, which is nice. I realize that, for a lot of people that just want the frames, this might sound stupid because they wouldn't want to play games at anything else but native res but I feel like theres going to be a great bunch of people that would benefit from both. Meanwhile you could play competitive titles with lower res. Using 1080p with integer scaling looks decent.

Thanks for the video.

Currently I'm using a massdrop vast monitor I got 2yrs ago for ~$600.

[35" curved UW-3440x1440, VA, 100Hz-OC'd to 115]

Was wondering if today's 1440p+ UW monitors in around that price range is reasonably better enough for me to switch out or not.

{Also own a 50" 4k local dimming TCL R6 TV to cover for atmospheric games/videos}

Good video, but you should have included the LG 27GL83A-B Ultragear QHD 1ms IPS monitor.  It's the cheaper version of the 27GL850 without the nano-IPS and no HDR.

Pretty sure Linus uses a Predator XB271HU/HK (27" 1440p, 165Hz/4K 60Hz) in his office. Good monitor, got the HU for $350 on Black Friday and 4ms response time (the only real downside to IPS panels) aside, I couldn't have gotten a better deal.

Granted, I could definitely use a bigger desk (considering that my BlackWidow Elite comes with a wrist rest that I hear is to die for). And a new system...
