And picked up the last component needed today. Decided to save about $150 and grab a Vega 56 with about 4% performance difference instead of a 5600 XT. And it's an MSI reference model with Hynix memory, which means I can flash it to a Vega 64. :D

Shoe-horned the Vega 56 into the Rustech PC for some testing. Wow, she runs hot and loud, lol. Not as bad as the R9 290 I used to have years ago, though.

Alright, so after a few days tinkering with Windows in KVM with GPU passthrough, I've decided to just do a full fresh install of Windows alone with the Vega 56 and run dual-boot with Manjaro Linux. The sim racing league I compete in races at least once per week and I don't like missing too many. The Thrustmaster wheel I have didn't want to work with passthrough to the KVM and at this point I just need it to work. Not abandoning the VM setup, just not using it for now. Not as interesting, I know, but meh.

 

Anyways, here it is temporarily setup only now it's just running the Vega 56 in the main PCIe slot without the GTX 650Ti. Also, I have to say, the blower Vega actually runs pretty quiet out fo the box and is only hitting about 75*C max while gaming. Pretty happy with it, honestly. The re-paste probably helped a bit, no doubt.
