Ryzen thermal paste apply method

Flying Sausages

Hello

Is the rice method thermal paste apply  work on Ryzen CPU or do I need to use the X method or the vertical line method on Ryzen CPU? I will getting all my parts on next week Monday or Tuesday.

Use whichever you'd like and then just make sure you use more than you think you might need (I'm assuming you haven't checked a bunch of different paste applications in the paste to learn from).  Honestly, if you apply in several spots on the IHS with the forethought of how it will spread once the cooler is applied you'll probably do a good job.

use your finger and cover every square millimetre, if you die hard, buy some kitchen tongs to put the CPU into the socket

tongs, buy a good pair of tongs, to put the CPU into the socket with, if the top of the CPU is covered with paste, getting it into the socket and pressing it down firmly, normally ends up with you getting paste everywhere and all down the sides of the CPU and onto the pins and over the PCB, so use tongs

I always use a grain of rice on the middle of the CPU.  It seems to get almost full coverage when the cooler is attached.

Really?  "It seems to almost get full coverage".

I did a pea size and temps look alright, probably not the best method though.

Just do the rice/pea method. I've done it for both Intel and Ryzen and temps are perfectly fine. Other methods aren't worth the hassle in my opinion. For what? 1-2 degrees? If even that.
