Lenovo Y530 EC won't update

Hello,

My sister's Lenovo Legion Y530 can't update its EC, it's stuck at v46, while the BIOS is now v52.

Any idea why that is and how do I fix it?

Could it have something to do with the keyboard acting up from time to time? It types 2, 3 or more characters at once and stops supporting multiple inputs (i. e. pressing shift + any key won't type anything).

I tried fixing it by updating the BIOS (Wikipedia says the EC could control the keyboard) to v50, it got stuck at updating the EC - DSC_1343.thumb.JPG.21f18b0d0b7c896603ff0a99ebd44c12.JPG

Searched in google, found that it won't fix itself (1 hour had already passed and no progress whatsoever), turned it off and on and it worked, but this was the result:

BiOS was updated, EC wasn't.

Today I was hoping that running the bios update utility would fix it (v52 is out, for v50 the utility would just say "you already have that version" and close), but no, same story, bios updates, EC does not.

I also noticed te CPU was getting quite hot just by opening Firefox, HWMonitor was reading spikes up to 95 °C.

Lenovo forums are hopeless, 100 views, no answers, thread has been up for over 3 weeks.

Any idea what to do? (other than use the warranty because the staff at the tech shops here is rearded "your pirated windows is to blame for the artifacts, not the gpu") and they could easily refuse to fix it out of ignorance.

Official Lenovo site - v50 (serial and part number matched (LSB detected them))

Lenovo Update utility - v52

Both were for Y530-15ICH. (not the 1060)

95c is quite hot, maybe some kind of corruption is happening here, I think if it gets much hotter than that the system just turns off, is it still under warranty?

I told you that the EC couldn't update from v46 to v50 and recently from v46 to v52

What's the point?

I have checked the temps even when it had v46 bios, it was similar if not the same.

BTW, can't find the warranty card

Did you install the BIOS from the same link?

I would RMA it

Had a few games, noticed it started to stutter, opened HW Monitor and found this:
