PowerEdge R610 Rack Server Help - Australia

Hi all,

I am currently trying to buy a PowerEdge R610 in Australia but have currently been unsuccessful in finding a bare-bones server with no RAM or CPU's in it or just an R610 server in general that is actually priced correctly/ decently. Does anyone know of any PowerEdge R610 servers that are for sale in Australia that are cheapish??

Sorry, I live in Canada so I have no idea what hardware is available down under. I'd recommend looking on Craigslist or other similar used website (if you have those there) as well as places like eBay or local liquidation outlets to see if they regularly handle used server hardware.

the R610's are very popular in Australia due to their cheapness and performance they can get since they are about 10 years old (common for businesses to sell the server once it can no longer take on the business requirements, which is usually 7 or so years, 5 if you are lucky.)

your best bet is either gumtree or ebay.

i have looked on both since i gave been looking for a JBOD SAS storage box for a huge storage project i'm doing and the server market currently is dry, you may have some luck in november when most businesses will start clearing out old equipment so they can have new equipment ready for the next year but don't hold your breath, you won't find anything younger then 5 years

I have a spare R610 with facia & rails here in NZ, no idea what cost would be to ship it to Australia though, they're a fairly sizable box
