At least I know what it is, but struggling to find a place to buy it. I can't even find it on BMW main website when looking through their catalog.

You didn't state where you are, so I defaulted to the US since I don't know parts houses outside of the US. Search E46fanatics or other forums (m3cutters.co.uk) for suggestions. Realoem gives you the part number (part name is meaningless), part house of your choice sells you the specific part number, Bentley manual tells you how to install it.

Don't bother with any BMW website, they don't deal with parts (edit: apparently maybe not in UK?). Call up your dealer's parts dept with the part number and get a quote.

example:

Realoem shows 51718224985 as the pat number for the lower left spash guard ahead of the fender liner. This might not be your part, that's on you to check.

copy/paste part number, three seconds on google gives https://bmwsupply.co.uk/ and https://shop.bmw.co.uk/?_ga=2.13885875.504793273.1559586111-1533569757.1559586111#.

Paste part number in appropriate dialog box, hit enter:

46.40 GBP from bmw.co.uk

42.16 GBP from bmwsupply.co.uk

and you're done. Double check that's the part you need, do some more googling for part sellers, but that's how it's done.

Doing countless searches but can't put my finger on what this part is called. I find names but then they lead to something else.

All I want is the name for the left piece that is outlined in pencil and the other that has a red rectangle box around.

Steve. There, I named it.

Those are skid plates.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

Pyo.

Belly pan, weather guard, splash shield, engine baffle...

If you're looking for replacements I advise getting under the car and finding the part numbers

Big piece under the engine is a splash guard and the one on the left is a fender liner. And on an e46 i would just ditch the splash guard. I used to have one and even a new one still drooped down and looked horrible

After 2 hours of searching, this is called a LOWER LEFT ENGINE COMPARTMENT COVER. Now I just need to blow my time on finding it through BMW part site. I'm unable to get under the car, so I would need to take it somewhere :/

Thanks for comments.

This will help in the future:

Realoem.com -- pulls up part numbers and diagrams

Ecstuning -- nearly complete photos of each component

Pelican Parts / FCPeuro /Autohausaz / getbmwparts -- all good parts places.

Bimmerworld / Turner Motorsport -- go fast parts, some look cool but mostly racecar parts.

That, plus a Bentley manual for the e46, will get you far.

The only site that looks useful is Realoem.com and Ecstuning. I'm from the UK and purchasing abroad is a no go for me. My car is a BMW E46 320CI 2005
