There is no amd or intel ddr3. Its either just branding and it doesn't matter, or its things like xmp, where it will still work, but you will have to manually oc the stick

there are "AMD Only" DDR3 sticks out there that aren't supported on intel boards but will work just fine on AMD boards.

Hi,

I'm building a cheap and little power-full PC for my friend. I bought PC (AMD Phenome II x4 965, GA-78LMT-S2P).

Now i need 8 GB RAM, and here is problem. I know that DRR3 RAM's have this Intel and AMD compatibility, but how i can tell the difference from 2nd hand deals?

the ones that say "AMD Only" or something similar won't work with intel boards, everything else should work fine.

IIRC it's something about it being higher density than normal, but don't quote me on that.

I currently have a working Phenom 965(old but gold) paired with the old corsair vengeance blue dimms(1333 or 1600). So i can confirm they will work for you. In any case there isn't any intel or amd compatibility with rams. It's more of a socket compatibility.

you can find "AMD only" Ram that isn't supported on most intel boards.

I thought that was a DDR2 thing. Didn't know it exists on newer ram too.

DDR2 only

NOT ddr3 or 4.

Google folks!

It just wont read the XMP profile cause AMD uses DOHCP lol.
