DisplayPort to HDMI not working

williamcll
Go to solution Solved by williamcll,
Alright, after buying a DP->HDMI as well as a USB-C->HDMI adaptors and trying both out successfully, I can conclude that it was the DP/HDMI cable that is faulty unfortunately. I wonder what I should do with this faulty cable.

I have two montiors, both supports HDMI and VGA. However my GPU (EVGA RTX 2080 ti Black) only has 1 HDMI port with the rest DisplayPort or the USB-C. So I got myself a DisplayPort to HDMI cable and connected it to my second monitor. However I am getting no signal, the computer does not detect the connection but the second monitor does but without any image, is there any solution or must I get a new cable? Currently on the newest driver but I am going to update the firmware as well.

Generally speaking, you need an active adaptor to convert DP to HDMI/DVI or VGA.

Passive straight through cables only work if the displayport source is dual mode.

Can I do that on my GPU?

Alternatively, can I route video output to the motherboard? I am on Ryzen 2700X so no integrated video.

No. Its a hardware thing.

Also no, if there is no IGPU, the connectors on the mobo are virtually dead.

Looking online, it seems like the RTX 2080 Ti does support Dual mode and will work with passive cables, so I've got no idea what to do.

Update: it seems like if I only leave just the DP->HDMI cable plugged in. The BIOS/Splash is displayed but then black screen everything after.

Upon further testing, the DP to HDMI display also works in safe mode when the HDMI cable is not connected.
