EVGA 2070 XC ultra or EVGA 2080 XC Ultra?

GenObi

I wanna sell my soul,  upgrading from EVGA 1070 SC. Any recommendations?  I would like to get into high refresh rate 1440p or maybe even 4k

2080 for sure. The 2070 is honestly not even worth considering if you are already rocking a 1070 because the performance difference isn't all that big.

I would get the 2080 for 144hz 1440p. That's what I play at now and some games still don't reach 144 fps on max settings.

The 2080 XC will be a better upgrade, as it's similar to a 1080 Ti. Whereas the 2070 is more of a slightly better 1080.

I heard if you over clock a 2070 you get real close to a 1080 ti

probably not... a 2080 is just a little better than a 1080 ti, so i don't see that happen

You probably could, but you could also make the argument you could overclock a 2080 to 2080 Ti levels, which will dance around a 1080 Ti.

However this requires a lot of factors to be in your favor to begin with. Not all 2070s will overclock that well, and I'd argue most won't.

EDIT: If this means nothing to you, the 2070 will probably get you like 15-20% better performance whereas the 2080 will get you 50%+

That was my reasoning for getting 2080 to replace my 1070.

2070 is too much like 1080, which getting a 1080 is a pointless upgrade over 1070.

Planning to get the "ultra" version with that brick of a cooler.  My case is also a full tower with bunch of fans and most importantly rgb, everyone knows turning to the color blue instantly knocks off 10 degrees ?
