Upgrade: FX6300 to Ryzen.. R5 or R7? Advice?

Tomorrow I sell my FX 6300 and go Ryzen. I can get a 2600=$160, 2600X=$170, or a 2700=$200. I mostly game on my PC but everyone once in a while I play around with streaming or virtual machines or just random stuff, so I like to be able to mess around with whatever if I suddenly have a wild desire or interest. With that being said what CPU should I get?

2600X, its worth the $10 extra and should OC a bit further if you want to do that.

 

It should have the best overall stock gaming performance of the three.

Since new Ryzen is not so far off, I actually recommend sourcing a deal on a Ryzen 7 1700x or something, because stores like microcenter or Fry's seem to like to give loads of discounts on these CPUs. Then, when the time is right, grab a 16 core flagship.

As @fasauceome said the newer zen2 chipset will be coming out soon, and a 1700x or 2700x would be a good option, as the zen2 will be same AM4 platform.

 

I went with a 2700x knowing that I will be upgrading soon.

I'd rather wait for 3rd gen in summer if possible, unless what you're using is unbearably slow or is broken

 

Isn't Ryzen 7 2700 $250? I'd get the R7 1700 or R5 1600 instead at $160 and $120 respectively. You should only lose around $50 when you sell it out in the future, compared to the 2nd gen stuff which can lose up to $100 of their value.

I appreciate your reply. My post does state the prices I can get these cpus new though. At microcenter right now I can get 2700 for 199.99 new. The prices are above. The reason I am looking at the processors I listed above is because they are all on great deals right now. In fact I can get a 1600 for $75 new right now.

1600 for 75 damm take cheap motherbard and use it if you want ryzen 3000 then just sell it. because it's still not announced (ryzen 3000) so it will take sume time

1600 then, 3rd gen's the real deal right? If you're not upgrading again though the 2700 is the best deal.
