What is wrong with my dad'slaptop?

Reinstalling windows may help if it is a driver issue, but if it a hardware issue like a bad connection from the wifi card to the motherboard or a failing wifi card reinstalling will not help. There is nothing to lose from reinstalling windows so I would say to give it a shot.

So my dad has a Lenovo laptop ( he doesn't know the model number and he threw the the box it came in and I'm feeling too lazy to look it up). If I remember correctly it comes with an i3 3110m and 4 gigs of ram. He has been complaining since almost 1 year that WiFi doesn't work on his laptop. He would connect it to the WiFi network and it would work fine for about a minute or two but then it would stop working after that and he would have to turn WiFi off and then turn it on again.

What could be the cause of this problem and will reinstalling windows help.
