GTX-1070 and GTX-1080Ti in SLI

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

Hi guys !

Just bought a GTX-1080Ti to upgrade my GTX-1070.

Was thinking on selling my 1070 ... but then I was thinking maybe I could just SLI it with my new 1080Ti !!

My questions are:

1- Could it work ?

2- And if so, is it worth it ? Will it really upgrade graphic performance ? Meaning that I keep my 1070 instead of selling it ...

HELP !

1. No you cant do SLI with 2 different Nvidia GPU's

2. You could still put in and use both if your use-case benefits from more GPU power (no not gaming) - say Mining

If you are mainly gaming/ video editing you should definitely ditch the 1070 entirely.

GPU mining is not profitable today.

it is however technically possible 😋

The guy selling me the 1080-Ti was mining, but is selling his 50 x GTX-1080Ti's because its not making enough profit versus his electrical bill and initial gpu investment !

Yay for me ! :)

Got it cheap too !

you need a CPU/platform upgrade...a i5-4670K will not cut it for even a Single 1080ti...even at 4K

You want a 6 core/12 thread CPU with at least 4 ghz of CPU clock speed (AMD Ryzen or Intel coffee lake) for a single 1080ti in modern games...ideal resolution is 2560x1440 high refresh.

You have better to do with your money, hit me a PM and i'll help you out.

Nope has to be the same card. That being said you could either A) Keep it as a backup or B) Sell it for around $250.

I came back on this forum exactly to know why my rig isnt pushing better performance after benchmarking it with Unigine Heaven and Valley! :(

I do want to upgrade the rest of my rig and I'm wondering what to buy for a better platform.

I usually stick with Gigabyte, EVGA or Asus with an Intel CPU. But I'm kinda rusty with whats bew on the marketplace.

PM ing you right now i_build_nanosuit !
