Where should I slot my sata based m.2 ssd?

I have a question.

I recently purchased a Gigabyte gaming 7 AM4 motherboard along with an EZDIY-FAB dual m.2 expansion card.

My drives are a 500gb Crucial MX500 sata m.2 drive for animation files and a 250gb Samsung 970 Evo NVMe drive for OS and work programs (I got an additional 250gb 2.5 ssd for large games and a firecuda for general storage as well)

Now the upper m.2 slot on the gigabyte board is pcie 3.0 (the 970 Evo goes here) while the lower slot is pcie 2.0. Both slots on the FAB card are 3.0. Now if I place the MX500 on the lower slot will I get full speed of the ssd? Or should I place it in the EZDIY card, and slot that into the 8x slot on the motherboard?

Also will placing the EZDIY card in one of the 4x pcie 2.0 slots slow down an nvme drive?

These may seem like dumb questions but I can't find any answers for them anywhere.

Keep the 970 Evo where it sits, and wherever you desire for the M.2 MX500. It runs on SATA so any PCIe supporting M.2 slot won't bottleneck it.
