and to get back on topic,

A norco 4220 26TB Flexraid server (visit the storage showoff topic for more info)

2x DL140G3, 16GB ram, 2 Quad Core Xeon, 2 RE4 1TB, 1 60GB SSD

runs ESXI, teamspeak servers, game servers, usenet/torrent/ftp, test environments, etc, etc.

also still have 2 DL580G2, but they are not running because of the terrible power consumption to performance ratio

Server 1:

Intel Pentium 4 @ 2,4 Ghz

2gb DDR ram

2x80gb HDD's

Windows xp

It runs: 2 Half-Life servers

Server 2:

AMD Duron @ 1,4 Ghz

256mb sd ram

2x40gb HDD's

Windows xp

Runs: nginx php mysql

Both servers have ftp and vnc on them for management, they are located downstairs from my flat.

Got an old UPS running a car battery in case the main power decides to troll.

And they got a fiber connection. Been running over 3 months now without any service interruption.

Not really what i would call a home server since im not really interested in having storage done on a separate machine somewhere, i just like putting old hardware to use :D

Something wrong with your connection ?

Run the damn cable :)

Got a Server 2012 at home with these specs:

AMD Phenom 9950 BE @ 3Ghz

Adaptec ASR-4805AS 256mb Raid card(in the PCIex16 slot)

6 TB in raid 1 just for the redundancy, yeah I know I can do raid 10 on this card, but I am to lazy :)

8 Gig ddr2 ram

M2N68-vm motherboard

Runs direct access for all of my windows 8 computers(yeah I have upgraded all of my computers :D)

My own DNS server

Exchange Server 2013(VMware)

Active directory

Fileserver

Thinking about installing sharepoint

DHCP

and a whole bunch of other services that I need to practice for my studies

I'm running Windows Server 2012 standard on:

Intel Pentium G2020, 8GB DDR3 1333MHZ ram, 250GB Boot Drive, 2x 1TB drives in RAID 0.

It runs File sharing, PLEX Media transcoding / streaming, Active Directory, Roaming Profiles, DHCP, DNS, Print Server, Torrent Downloader etc. Runs like a DREAM! Love it! Super cheap too!

CPU i5 4430 3Ghz | Ram: 16GB DDR3 1600 | GPU: GTX 650 Ti 1GB | Mobo: H87N-Wifi | Case: White Bitfenix Prodigy | Boot Drive: 120GB 840 Evo (Mac OS X) 120gb OCZ Vertex 3 (Windows) | Games Drive: 640GB WD Green | OS: Windows 8 & OS X 10.9.1

I love all technology. The perfection of macs for my designer side, and the hardware and fun of tinkering on the of the pc side. We can have it all, just not at the same time.

Xeon E5620 paired with Asus P6T (maybe Delux, don't remember)

Have multiple raid 10 volumes. One 4TB volume for media storage. Another 3TB volume for storing whatever, also used as my game storage. And finally RAID1 1TB for personal files.

I was going to run ESXi on it but at the moment I settled for win2k8r2 with vmware workstation running my linux and mac os.

Yea. The problem is that I need a hardware card to keep raid 10 volumes and a separate intel nic. P6T comes with realtek nic and last time I checked ESXi 5 U1 didn't support it unless driver was injected.

I can probably get around raid problem if I get intel nic.

Running this off my old gaming rig.

Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 oc to 3.8GHz

Asus P5Q SE PLUS

6GB of mixed DD2 dimms

2x 500GB WD Green and Blue

1x 1TB WD Blue

1x 320GB Seagate (boot)

HD5750 (yea.. wasted I know)

Cooler Master Extreme Power 850 (got it from a friend who doesn't want it after it died and returned from warranty)

Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin 64-bit (not the .02 version with the new software stack)

Running off it are:

TeamSpeak server

Samba share

Samba print server

BOINC

Emit server (media streaming, a bit buggy)

VNC server (remote connection)

FTPs server

Deluge (torrent)

Am planning to redo the whole server to a 4TB storage with proper raid-z redundancy. Right now it there's nothing keeping my data alive if something hits it. Also planning to do a headless server instead.

The Internet is invented by cats. Why? Why else would it have so much cat videos?
