Summary On April 8th, 2024 at 4PM PDT the Online play servers for the Wii U and 3DS will shut down permanently. This means that online functionality such as Online play, SpotPass, and internet rankings will all cease to function. Features like the internet browser will still work. Quotes My thoughts We all knew it'd happen someday, but it's still sad to see these go. The Wii U was the first game console I received as a gift, and I have years of memories playing with my brothers on the Wii U. What really sucks is how this is going to break the core functionality of a ton of games (with a primary focus on Super Mario Maker) that rely on Online functionality. These games will nearly entirely cease to work without outside community servers like Pretendo. I guess the cheering should go to Microsoft for continuing to support the Xbox 360 (even if the store support is ending this summer) for so dang long. Once it starts outlasting consoles from the generation after, I'd call that some dedication from Microsoft. I'm gonna have some friends over and I thought that instead of watching movies like we usually do, I thought playing some video games might be fun to try. However, no one (including me) is a gamer. This is the hardware I have: PC (RTX 2060, 16 GB RAM). Mac (M1 Max, 32 GB RAM). 1440p 165 hz monitor. 4K OLED TV 60 hz. Three DUALSHOCK 4 PS4 Bluetooth controllers (unfortunately no PS4 at the moment though, long story...). I would prefer if there was a game that supported local multiplayer by using the two/three DUALSHOCK 4 Bluetooth controllers at the same time to the same device. But maybe those single device multiplayer games are mostly for console? We're open for any suggestions in terms of genre. I apologize in advance for my lack of gaming knowledge.

Hello LTT forum, Please help me out, i built my first gaming pc, (with a help of pc master) he installed a windows, but later i found out that it's not original, not even a version when you buy key from a website, it's a free copy... and after 2 months of playing Warzone, i get a shadowban for no reason... Do you know if it's okay to use this windows? especially for multiplayer Games, or i should buy a key, or pay for a license? Thank you

I've been wanting to run my own modded server for a while now but the hosting options out there are not the best. Always lag and rubber banding. just don't want to pay massive amounts of money to get a "stable" server. So I've been looking into doing it myself, I was able to successfully run a vanilla Minecraft server on my own desktop and it runs fine. I know mods drastically increase ram usage just for my self let alone a whole server on a single desktop. I've seen some people make their vanilla servers on raspberry pi and this seemed to work just fine, but what about modded. I just can't find a lot of information about it sadly.

1 - Here is the conundrum. The entire PC freezes in multiplayer so you have to reset it and thus there is no proper log made of what went wrong. So sadly no crash dumps to share i have talked with some others about that and they are stumped on what to do. The PC works just fine in singleplayer The owner mainly plays things like Kitaria fables, Stardew Valley, Don't starve. But also has gotten into some Valheim and Raft recently. Now the big issue here is that Valheim and Raft seems to work just fine in single player longest played time is about two hours before getting bored. But the moment we try to play multiplayer the game lasts maybe 20 minutes. Now we did upgrade to an SSD instead and that pushed some gameplay moments up to above the one hour mark. I also want to point out that these crashes are not very predictable they vary from 10 minutes up to around 1 hour. More games are planned for testing later on. But previous plays on Stardew Valley and Don't starve showed no issues in multiplayer. ________________________________ 2 - Okay so sadly it is not my PC so i have limited access to what i can do. One big reason is that we live far apart I am in Sweden they are in the US. Info i have so far on it. No over clocking of any kind user is not knowledgable enough to know about or do such things!!!! it is a CyberpowerPC prebuilt from around 2017-18 or so using Windows 10, 64 1 terabyte SSD (switched this recently trying to see if that fixed it) Motherboard: Gigabyte Sniper Z170 GPU: MSI Nvidia 1060 3Gb Gigabyte 16Gb Ram CPU: Intel i7 7700 4.2Ghz PCU: (my guess is a 600W unit of some type) _________________________________ 3 - Here is what we have done so far to check the issue! Running a driver booster scan and update on available hardware's. Graphics card update trough Nvidia Gforce experience. Checked the HDD health then switched the HDD to an SSD just in case. Reinstalled the games Tried to find crash dumps but sadly due to the freeze the computer was unable to log them. Monitored computer performance during gameplay. CPU - load and heat is fine and within normal parameters GPU - load and heat is fine and within normal parameters RAM - load and heat is fine and within normal parameters HHD - Load peaking and slowing down the PC from time to time but solved trough replacement. SSD - seems fine as well. I am completely out of ideas at this point. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem??

Hey guys, So I have a friend over at my house. We have 2 mouses, 2 keyboards, 2 screens, but we only have one computer. Is there a way for us to play both on the computer both with our own peripherals? So the screen would basically split, only difference being that it's one computer doing all the work. I hope I worded the question in an understandable way xD. Thanks in advance!

Like most adult gamers, I also fit the bill of the stereotypical adult gamer; I devote a couple of hours or so here and there per week, playing a game and pretty much never practicing or play for long sessions (4+ hours) as I never have the time or can get bored. I would say this is quite common once you reach adulthood, since people tend to grow up and focus on other life priorities, like work or family. With that in mind, I bet if some official data survey was done, there would be a high concentration of the top 5% of gamers being quite young (who tend to have less everyday responsibilities.) However, I think every competitive multiplayer gamer knows someone who is like them and does the same sort of things you are doing but they somehow seem to be a naturally better player. (That could even be you if the odds are in your favour!) They may seem to play as often, play on the same settings, use the same tactics/weapons/skills etc, but are just better... with no clear reason why. Here is some interesting figures I have collected. It is the percentile and ranks for the top 1% in certain games: GAME RANK PERCENTILE -Apex Legends - Apex Master & Apex Predator - Top 0.40% -CS:GO - The Global Elite - Top 0.69% -Overwatch - Grandmaster & top 500 - Top 1.00% -League of Legends - Master to Challenger - Top 0.13% -DOTA 2 - Immortal - Top 1.73% -Rocket League - Champion 3 to Supersonic Legend - Top 0.69% When you are this good, you can easily act as a mentor and/or role model to other players and are typically well respected in that games community. Albeit, some communities may be toxic and see you as a 'no lifer' / try-hard, however generally speaking, most other decent players will put some respect on your name. It comes with benefits too, as it allows you to maybe show your skills on a streaming platform and build a following with your impressive skills / Or maybe enter a few tournaments online and win various prizes or awards / Enter the eSports scene and make competitive gaming your full-time job / I bet the large majority do it for the title and the status of what it says "I am very good at X game, which I like very much." I think it's important to mention though that the ranking system on SOME games are flawed. (Usually intentional by the developers). For example, they make the chance of you getting into the top percentile a time-based grind rather than a fully 100% skill-based grind. This means if X game has some tournament and the period is 1 month and top 500 who have the highest wins / elo / points at the end of the month get the best rank. The problem with those kind of ranking systems is that a naturally skilled player may suffer because he can't devote as much time as his Plastic-rank friend Jamie, who lives in a basement and plays the game from sunrise to sunset whilst eating Cheetos. - Example games include Yugioh: Duel Links and Apex Predator. --- So, what does it take to be a Top 1% gamer? When I think of being good at a game, the attributes boil down to the following; Natural Skill I think this can be broken down to mechanical aim, game sense, reflexes and versality. - Undoubtedly the hardest things to improve (if at all.) -MA is self-explanatory; the more you practice your aim, the better you will be. I guess it could fit into the Experience category too, however some people are just WAY better at aiming, even without the hours. -Game sense I think is a combination of experience and in-game knowledge, but with a twist; you typically have good gamesense if you apply logical thinking to every game you play. - for example, if we gave you a brand new FPS to play and told you to play serious, would you try to take the high-ground? Would you try to flank if your player had flanking qualities? If it was a MOBA, would you know when to push an enemy and get the kill? If it was a TCG, could you identify when a card for card trade-off would be worth it? Etc etc. -Reflexes is also another self-explanatory one. Unless it is a non-time based puzzle game, reflexes would play a huge part. This is also another reason why a lot of professional eSports players retire after a few years. (Because your reflexes tend to depreciate as you age. I believe age 25 is the starting point, but don't quote me on that.) -Versatility may sound generic, but I believe it is the skill of being able to do all things really good, at once. You may know every single items name, effect, cost and stat increase to the 0.1 digit in the League buy-items menu, but it completely hinders your chance of that 1% spot if your aim is only 'slightly above average', your reflexes suck and you haven't played a game this season. I also think it is the ability to innovate and try something that may not be mainstream, but works in said scenarios. Experience Practice makes perfect! Experience of a game is putting theory into practice, like 'feeling' when your 3.8s cooldown has completed, what typically works and doesn't work, when to move to location A or play defensively, etc. In-Game Knowledge Knowing the meta, best moves/items/weapons, counters to certain situations, sweet hard-scoping spots, recent buffs/nerfs, knowing your enemy, etc etc. I think taking the time to learn the finer details about a competitive game you play is always a positive and is essential for higher-level play. Being in the regular know-how is important too and keeping up to date with changes. Luck Besides static games like Chess, I think luck exists in some form in every multiplayer game. Even then, some elements of Chess could be considered 'Luck' like picking an optimal opening move / strategy that has an advantage over your opponent's opening move / strategy. Think A > B > C > A... It could involve accidentally pressing the wrong key that actually works out in your favour or your opponents pressing the wrong key or making the wrong move / play. It could be that you set-up in a certain area on the map and the whole enemy team runs into your multi-killing 'X'. Maybe the game glitched a little or a connection dropped on your adversaries side and you managed to take advantage of the situation. Naming all possible elements of luck is endless. However, luck diminishes the more games you play and it will have less impact on your ranking. (unless you are really unlucky / lucky ) Communication I didn't really want to include this, as it is a 2+ person attribute rather than solo. If you look at ALL of the games above in the ranking list, they are team based. It is obvious that a team who communicates will have a higher chance of winning than a team who doesn't communicate. - From experience, I know this is very true in Overwatch. If you have ever Solo-Queued and gone into a competitive match where everyone is openly speaking, you tend to feel more confident and win than those Solo-Queue games where the chat is dead. For high-level communication, I bet planning of the comms plays a part. I.e. what to callout, what to not clog the voice comms with, abbreviations etc. Team Synergy Another self-explanatory one... In team-based games, if everyone knows what their role is and what to focus on, they will do well. Combining certain elements of the game and knowing when/how/where/what to do together etc. Equipment From an eSports perspective, they all tend to get matching equipment in tournaments so it isn't really a problem. Whilst at home though, I don't think it needs to be explained that if you want to get into the very very high ranks, you improve your chances drastically if you have a monitor that outputs more than 60 FPS and has a low input lag and response time, a mouse with a high-polling rate or even a suitable GPU to match your desired frames. - Albeit, it is not impossible though that you can't reach X rank with old / low-grade equipment and I bet people do it all the time. Equipment is more of a decisive factor in some games than others. (240 fps probably isn't needed for Hearstone, lol.) I do feel a bit sad though knowing that there are probably uber-level skilled kids out there that have all of the above qualities, but their parents can't afford a monitor so they game on a TV, or play with a trackball mouse. --- Anyway, those are just my views on what it possibly takes to be a top 1% player... but I am not a top 1% player. (besides in one game probably, but it can't be measured as it has no official ranking.) One thing I have absolutely no idea on; the weighting of the above attributes. For example, how much does superior Natural Skill play in reaching 1%, or how vital is Team Synergy vs Experience. Etc etc. So I would love to hear from others on what attributes they think it takes to be a top 1% player. Whether they agree with the above or disagree; have I missed something you think is key? If you are or have previously been a very very high-ranking player, I would love to know what it actually takes and what are the most important things to focus on if you want to be the very best. (..."like no one ever was!" dun Dun DUN.)

I’m looking for free multiplayer/co-op horror games on Steam to play with friends during the pandemic. Any suggestions? (Very cheap games are also welcomed as suggestions, but free is preferred).

Make the games hot, not the CPU! Yeah it's back and 11 years old laptop is handling this game like a boss. I believe Raspberry Pi could run it too if there was windows xp emulator with working networking. I know times change and kids are into gaming on their phones nowadays, but sometimes I just feel they miss out on the fun I had as a child. Robot Wars inspired, pure strategy and action, use arena hazards, earn credits and upgrade the robot on your way to highscores. Or skip all that and use any weapons you want on freestyle server. Multiplayer only.

Hi, I am looking for people to play Stellaris multiplayer with on the weekends within a few timezones of me (UTC+1) or any day in the next week as I have the time off, as I would rather find people on the forum to play with than just jump in a game with randos. I have the following expansions: Utopia, Apocalypse, Horizon Signal, Synthetic Dawn, Leviathans, Humanoids, Plantoids, Megacorp, Ancient Relics and Federations (though I haven't actually played with the last three yet). Is there anyone here that would be interested?

I'm just a casual PC gamer (laptop) who has a poor internet connection. So here's the problem...I have WiFi in my home which is okay for downloads but gives a higher ping and not suitable to game on. so I usually turn on my phone's Hotspot and game on that. since i am on a limited data plan it is not possible for me to have (discord) voice chat on while gaming. is there any way for me to make my game use USB tethering from my phone and make discord use my WiFi to voice chat at the same time?

I need suggestions for games with multiplayer games that support either of: multiplayer through LAN multiplayer with own server So far, I have Minecraft under category (2), and many quite older games under (1). But I get the feeling that ever since the "game as a service" trend became stronger, games are mostly limited to multiplayer through centralized servers. Contrary to that trend, I'm looking for games that I can play on the local network, or hosting my own server as a way to keep it local. It can be any kind of games, and I would indeed appreciate variety as I intend to try games with someone who hasn't done much PC gaming, and therefore isn't sure which kind games is going to like. Thanks in advance to anyone providing suggestions!

Hello and have a nice day everyone ! I have been wondering about 1 question these days for playing Far Cry 5 in Coop mode. The question is that is it possible to play in Coop mode when i purchase the game from Ubi-store, have the game installed on my own PC, then using the same Uplay account to log in, download and install the game on another PC (my brother computer as in my case). After that, use a different Uplay account that has not purchased the game yet to log in and play in Coop mode ? If not, are there any other ways ? I tend to do that for me and my brother to play at home. Thanks in advance !

I have a Minecraft server that I run on my computer. It is just for me and my sister. It works fine when she is here with her laptop, but she cannot connect when she is at my brother's house. She's living there so it's easier to go to college. It is a vanilla 1.13.1 server and I have not set up a domain. Shouldn't my computer's IP address be enough? EA has announced that single player games are dead (ha ha ha ha ha). Now, we all know EA are idiots, but this got me thinking. My question is, do PVP multiplayer FPS games have a future on PC? It seems like every game I play with a multiplayer element is infested with cheaters using aimbots and wallhacks. Sure, multiplayer games can get pretty popular, but how long do they last before people give up in frustration? is there ever going to be a solution to the cheating problem in PC multiplayer FPS games? EDIT- Narrowed it down to FPS games.

I'm in my early 40's and I've never had any interest in playing PvP multiplayer games... till now. I bought Titanfall 2 discounted. I loved the single player campaign, then just for laughs, I gave the multiplayer a go. I love it! I'm not the best player but I do get 2nd or 3rd place every now and then. I've noticed some players with freakishly good aim. I can tell they are not using aimbots as they do actually try to get a fix on me before decapitating my character, but they are so precise and quick. I tend to spray and pray a lot of the time and most of my kills I put down to luck or basic psychology to predict where the other player was going. Question is, how bad are the reflexes of someone in their 40's compared to someone in the teens or 20's?

Some info beforehand. I have studied Windows Server for small to medium businesses and Ubuntu Servers for custom hardware and data. But now I'm studying Game Development but as far as i know we will see pretty much nothing about servers and multiplayer for games. I have an idea for a fast paced first person shooter with multiplayer. I have told my idea to a good friend of mine who is a PR manager for an organisation that searches for sponsors for other people (for a fee ofcourse). Now i have to pitch my idea and business plan to the organisation to get a sponsorship. My estimated costs for 2 years of development with 4 part time workers will most probably end me up with a budget of €15 000 for a server and networking within my business, but I don't know much about requirements for my server to serve my needs. Now the situation I would like to run a : - 12TB (4*4TB with 4 extra empty slots) storage server with RAID 5 to store all files (photoshop, unity and/or unreal, 3D models and others). - Up to 4 instances unity or unreal multiplayer servers with 16 concurrent players per server. - A custom 10 Gigabit network throughout my working space for many devices. I was thinking of : - An 12 core xeon or i9 ( 2 cores per gaming server, 2 for networking and 2 for storage) - 32 GB of Non-ECC RAM (4 for each gaming server, 12 for storage, 4 for the rest) - A 500 GB M.2 drive for OS in - A large tower case with - A low powered graphics card - 1 ethernet card with 2 ports each with 10 gigabit - A 12 port 1 gigabit switch with 10 gigabit connections to the main server.) Older edit errors (- 1 ethernet card with 4 ports each with 40 gigabit - A couple of 10 gigabit swithes with 40 gigabit connections to the main server.) *Edit: My calculation was wrong. I meant server with 2*10 gigabit connections with a 12 port 1 gigabit switch with a 10 gigabit connection to the server

Hello comrades, I spent many an hour the previous night attempting to do cross platform play from my Windows store bought FFXV and my friends FFXV on his xbox one, alas, we could not find each others camp. Does anyone know how to enable cross play between the two systems? As I cannot find out any information on how to do this. Unless I have read the windows store page incorrectly. Randomly, my computer started lagging in multiplayer games, and only multiplayer games. I can run single player games like Doom, Prey, Crysis, Shadows of Mordor, R6 Siege Singleplayer (Situations and Terrorist Hunt) at 1080p Ultra Setting at 120+Hz with no problems. However, whether its PUBG, CS:GO, Overwatch, TF2, or Siege, MY movement starts lagging. I can shoot or do actions just fine, as well as my allies/enemies move perfectly, however, my character will run then stop as if he's hit an invisible wall. Its about every 1.5 seconds or 2 seconds consistently (Human error so I'm not sure which one it is as I normally stop it between 1.6 or 1.9 depending on my reaction time). The consistency is the weird spot as it happens at a constant rhythm. Restarting my PC normally helps, but then it starts up again after awhile. My rig is here. The only OC is the processor at 3.7 Ghz at 1.35V and its been working well so far. The MSI Afterburner readings in-game show that utilization is normally averaging under 80%, if not lower, on GPU and CPU. I ran Memtest98 overnight and it passed all the tests. I ran 5 different ping tests and all five came back with less than 14ms ping, except one time to Brazil that was 38ms. My speed is 748.56Mbps down and 546.16Mbps up. I'm not sure if its a hardware or network thing as it only affects multiplayer games.
