I'm trying to figure out what kind of USB Hub/Dock I would need for a laptop setup. Me and my Wife both have work laptops and personal laptops and I would like a setup where we can plug any of the laptops in, ideally with a single cable.
 
The dock will need to allow us to connect to:
2 Displays (preferably 1440p each, but 1080p will also be ok) Gigabit Ethernet USB Type A ports for keyboard, mouse etc The laptops we have are
HP Elitebook 840 G5 (USB-C w/Thunderbolt support) Lenovo ThinkPad L380 Yoga (I think its USB-C only) Dell XPS 13 9360 (USB-C w/Thunderbolt support) Acer Swift SF314-51 (USB-C only) The first 2 laptops are our work laptops, so they are the priority, it would just be nice if it also worked with our own laptops.
 
Does a Hub even exist that can do this? I'm not to bothered about power over USB C as I know not all laptops support that.

Other than for gaming, I don't get the hate. I personally prefer Windows 10 on desktops but for me, OSX reigns supreme on laptops. 
 
That whole argument about a lack of apps just needs to go and die because quite simply, its not true. The way the trackpad works to give useful functions such as using four fingers to switch between virtual desktops (which were in OSX as early as 2006 or 7 and improved upon significantly in 2011) or the three finger tap on a word to define a word etc...
 
It comes with pages for free which isn't as feature rich as Word but its free and can be accessed from iCloud online AND saved as a .docx file if needed with the latest release of Pages which btw significantly improves importing/exporting between .pages and .docx files. I hear many people also say that the terminal is way more powerful under OSX/Linux than Windows's equivalent thus why Google love their Macs for development.
 
I'm just sick of the needless hate on an OS that is really really good if you give it a shot. 

I'm more of an Optimus Prime kinda guy..
 

WAIT HOLD UP. WE DONT WANT LINUS'S PERSONAL PC. The case has a lot of meaning to him guys. It was a gift from his wife. I believe it was the first gift from her too.
EDIT: Thanks for all the likes guys! Hopefully Linus or someone from LMG will read this and this will make Linus keep his build. Even if the goal of 100k is made we should convince Linus to do another build maybe, with signatures from the whole LMG family and maybe even his wife. This would let Linus keep the build he has with the special case his wife gave him. Besides, his personal PC would be more special to him than us.

You check the specs of every computer that you go on, no matter where or what it is.

I just can't get used to it. And I simply don't like it.
The XBox pad just feels SO much better, faster, more comfortable and more accurate.
So, will a wireless XBoxOne pad work on PC, after installing their drivers? Or does it have to be wired?

I seriously, cannot decide.
 
I really want a hi-res 1440p monitor, but I also want high refresh rates.
I want a great quality IPS panel, but I also want great latency for gaming.
 
I actually considered getting two different panels at one point but I really like the look of matching panels.
 
I'm actually looking for a 1440p monitor now and a high refresh rate 1080p monitor now
 
So, I'll leave it for you guys to decide.
 
I play mainly games, but I also plug my MacBook in to do Uni work and stuff.
My budget is about £150-200 per monitor, and I know I won't get everything I want- but if you could help me find some options I can then decide from those which to get.
 
For high-res panels, latency is a must.
For 1080p panels, refresh rates is a must.
 
So I'm more up to getting a monitor with a high refresh rate, like 120hz gaming. 
And, also a 1440p for MacBook stuff and programming etc.
 
I'm looking also I'm not getting you all to do my homework for me I just need some external opinions and stuff ;3

Thanks Linus and your team. I been following linustechtips since around the sandy bridge release time and since then i've watched pretty much everything you've released. Thank you for teaching me so much and just being awesome. Oh and congrats on 1 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS! 

I think linus will have to make a video for the non-techies about "how to plug the thing into the thing" and then a video showing "how to tie there shoes".

Here in the UK there is a Chain Store called PC world, not sure if its international but anyway, my friend went up there to get a network card, just a USB one not a PCI card. Upon asking the woman who worked there if they had any she replied "what are they?" and insisted that they didn't stock them, so the next day I went up with him as I know that they stock them. So we bought the Card and guess who was at the till, the same woman as before. Never seen her in the shop again can only assume they found someone with a braincell or two to replace her. Is it just me that thinks they should atleast hae some sort of a standard for knowledge on computers that there employees must have seeing as it is a computer shop?

Two things:    One time my ¨friend¨ was going to buy a computer (btw he has not bought it yet) and i asked him what graphics card he was going to use. His answer was: An i7. I laughed my pants off and he got mad and just walked away.
 
                      For a couple a years ago another friend of mine got a mouse from his dad on christmas, (he was 10) but when he took out the mouse from the box his dad took it from him and cut the cord with scissors, because he thougt it was a wireless mouse.  

I can't stand (literally go insane) when people will argue about something they have absolutely no or very limited idea about, whereas you know significantly more and you are trying to tell them the correct but they won't listen and keep to their " I know it all" ideology. Usually I have to face it with most of my friends or sometimes with my parents and it can get extremely irritating since I don't give up easily when I know someone is wrong or is speaking nonsense.
