I say keep Raja, but dump Lisa
Raja really does care about RTG even if they got bought out.

True but you can't be small in the processor game since it requires billions in investment

My biggest problem with them is that companies use them while they are illegal. "Oh, you opened our product? Fuck you!" One of the biggest offenders: Apple. "Replace the screen and the RAM messes up? Sucks, your warranty is void."

There's no shortage of HBM2, mainly because of Samsung. However, Nvidia is making lots of Teslas, and those are a priority. Since no one besides Nvidia is currently using GDDR5X, it makes sense for it to use it as a cheaper but equally well-performing alternative.

Ever since blizzard got bought out by Activision the whole company has just got this feeling of being more seedy and corrupt. Just the true American company way sue everyone until there's no one left to sue.

AMD honestly didn't hype Polaris at all, consumers did all of the hyping themselves.

nawaf reacted to Energycore in AMD reveals info on Zen base Opterons
Pretty sure AMD never claimed performance over 970
The only performance claim they made was the one CF benchmark in computex. Every other performance point we got was a leak, unofficial and actually against AMD's NDA

I don't understand this mindset that there is some kind of space premium in these phones, there really isn't. They don't need to be thinner, everyone I have ever talked to in person wants thicker/bigger battery. And getting rid of the headphone jack is 100% a money grab. They want to force you to buy all new stuff. There is absolutely no need to do it. I mean, buttons are old tech, lets get rid of those and only use gestures, or how about only allowing voice controls?! Old doesn't mean bad simply because its old. Sometimes we found a good way to do something, and we still use it because we haven't found a way to improve it in any meaningful way.

nawaf reacted to Bouzoo in AMD Confirms Key "Summit Ridge" Specs
Exactly, INTEL RECALL. Tell me, when was the last AMD recall that you can remember? I can't remember if they had any, so statistically Intel had more. What would happen if it would happen. What would happen if AMD has no faults on their upcoming CPUs? Now look at this, nothing. Jesus Christ, you're just fantasising about things against AMD for the sole reason of doing it.

nawaf reacted to Notional in rumor has it nVidia will begin mass production of Pascal GPUs before 2nd half of this year
AMD already confirmed to release Polaris cards (including the high end versions) in August. That leaves 3 possibilities:
Source is full of crap AMD also uses Samsung HBM2 SK Hynix started production in August 2015 SK Hynix' HBM1 ran at 500mhz. If they clock HBM 1 at 1Ghz, it sill effectively be HBM2. Afaik it is possible to OC HBM1 on FuryX to 1Ghz. Either way, AMD is not the one to worry about. It's obvious that AMD will be first to market with highend next gen (node) GPU's. They have functioning prototypes, that has been showcased.
So far we have seen nothing from NVidia. It could be that they are holding their cards close, but it's getting worrisome. With AMD's freesync over hdmi, full HDR support, and high efficiency, it seems that AMD are the ones to beat this time. However it's too soon to say, as we know nothing about Pascal other than 16nm ff+ and HBM2.
Either way, with a late Q2 production start, I would assume Pascal products hitting the shelves about the same time as ZEN.

nawaf reacted to Tomsen in AMD has unveiled 2 Polaris GPUs and will deliver "The most revolutionary jump in performance so far"
Well, a lot of speculation is saying that Nvidia might end up 2q behind. Nvidia not showing any form of a physical pascal chip, is not really making their case any better, meanwhile AMD have one up and running for display.
It has always been the case, that some people dedicated go for a single brand. However, to hit the wider market, they need to get some OEM deals going. This is where I can see AMD taking advantage. In the form of prebuild PCs and laptops.
Well, considering R9 Nano, the rest of the SKUs is running at a very power-hungry frequency, most likely to offer competitive performance.
Remember, that the frequency-powerdraw scale is not linear. However, what AMD showcased, the energy efficiency has greatly increased.
AMD drivers has improved alot. So has Nvidias..

nawaf reacted to Trixanity in AMD has unveiled 2 Polaris GPUs and will deliver "The most revolutionary jump in performance so far"
Also keep in mind that AMD had to trash all their 20nm designs and due to their budget constraints, it was forced to re-brand a lot.
Nvidia on the other hand just went ahead and threw all their money behind Maxwell on 28nm because while it was an undesired scenario, it was merely a bump in the road for them and an economic burden they could easily bear. A costly affair, no doubt, but I believe it paid off for them - big time.
AMD had to bide their time and put out stop gap solutions and push their current offerings to the limit.
I'm quite certain they put the majority of their graphics budget towards Polaris and 14nm.
I really think we should appreciate this new direction RTG is going. The openness is a step in the right direction. No doubt.
